Every time we move, which has been at least every 3 to 7 years.

Rarely! I have been in my current home for 17 years, and only the kitchen and family room/study have been decorated more than twice. The couches in my living room are 24 years old, and still look pretty good and are more comfortable than when they were new! I love them, but I'm looking forward to getting new stuff when I move house.

I paint and change bedding/curtains every couple of years. We have been in our house for 11 years this month and are on our 4th or 5th paint color in the master bedroom. We did a major renovation in there this year (went from a flat ceiling to a tray, replaced the carpet with hardwood flooring, built a huge headboard for our bed, painted our 20 year old dressers, and got new night stands).
My oldest DS is going away for 10 days and I am doing a surprise makeover in his room while he is gone. I'll be painting, rearranging furniture, new bedding and window treatments, and adding some new furniture pieces (a desk and maybe a futon). (He is leaving tonight and while I don't want him to go, I need him to hurry up and go because I have a lot of work to do!) I will probably do his brother's room next.

Thanks for the encouragement! My DH gets attached to things the way they are, but I think I've convinced him that I need to change things up for my sanity's sake! Now I just need to decide what I want...

I've never stopped redecorating in the last almost fifty years. I've had the same couch for forty years and have reupholstered it thirty-eight times. Completely rebuilt with new foam etc three time. It takes about three hours and has been every color and print in the rainbow. Almost everytime that I change the couch, I change the decor. There is nothing that I'd rather do than paint and redecorate. I've just redone my bedroom and am looking for my next project. It's past time to redo the couch but haven't found any fabric that inspires me yet.
I was facinated by all the decor changes in the movie Auntie Mame when I was a kid and swore when I grew up I was going to change my decor often...and I do.

I'm pretty slow to change things even when I really want to do something different. In our old house, we eventually changed every room at least twice, but we lived there for over 20 years and it was hideous when we moved in (as in, orange and brown floral Contact paper stuck to the kitchen walls instead of wallpaper, and heavy ugly gold drapes in the livingroom that HAD to go within weeks of us taking possession). We we moved three years ago and in that time we painted my basement studio (it was too dark with brown beadboard running all around the room), DD's bedroom (ugly peach we painted pink) and our laundry room (same ugly peach was painted off white). I also added built ins down in my studio this year which was something we planned to do when we bought the house. We haven't done a whole lot with any of the other rooms besides switching out DH's recliner (it was broken when we moved and finally died) and switching out the couch the former owners left for us with a smaller love seat that a friend was getting rid of because it fit better. My overstuffed chair was my dad's and I'll never replace it, although I did have it recovered again 1.5 years ago after our dogs shredded the fabric on the arms looking out the window at our old house. Our bedroom furniture was purchased in 2010 a couple years before we moved and it was pretty expensive, so it's not going anywhere. I would love to get the matching bedside tables but DH doesn't want to spend the money. We got DD a big girl bed when she outgrew her toddler bed, and I bought some fabric to finally make her some curtains for her room but haven't done it yet. We still have empty nails and picture hangers in a bunch of rooms that the former owners left on the walls with nothing hanging on them, and boxes of photos and art in closets that could be hung up but for whatever reason it doesn't happen. ETA: I would really LOVE to find a fun but comfortable pink chaise fainting couch to put at the bottom of the stairs against the wall in my studio, positioned so DD (or anyone) could sit and watch the tv on the far wall, or sit and read or look at books and still talk to me when I'm sitting at my desk. There's not really room for an upholstered chair anywhere else in the room. The bank of light switches for the basement are right there so I can't put up shelves or anything on the wall, so I figured I could put in some kind of seating in that area. I was originally thinking of putting a storage bench there, but I don't think that would be very comfortable to sit on for very long. My online searches have all been fruitless, and I don't have a ton of money to spend on it right now anyway.

We've been in our current home 9 years and I've repainted the living room and changed the furniture once. Old sectional went into the basement and I replaced it with two couches. I'm going to be replacing the couches again soon and repainting some of the walls. Same colors, just refreshing the paint. I've been going room by room lately painting, adding organizers, and changing up the decor. I just finished the bathroom in the basement (16yo's bathroom.) Painted the vanity a pretty plum, new light fixture, new shower curtain, hung a custom made sign, nail polish rack, and new rugs. My 13yo and 8yo's bathroom is a work in progress. I painted the walls, hung a custom made sign, framed initials, new towel racks, shower curtain rod, painted their light fixtures black, and new rugs. I still need to make their shower curtain, get a new faucet for one of the sinks, a granite countertop, and finish their mirrors. I bought a mirror and frames to go around their mirrors. I'm going to paint chevron on the wall between the mirror and frame. I have a lot of decor projects.

Thinking pictures would be fun in this thread.
We are in the process. We have been in this home for 10 years now. We have a suite area that has been used first by my mom, then my ds and ddil (when they got out of the Marine Corps), then dd and dsil (when he got out of the Marine Corps). All have settled into their own homes now, so suite area is now my mega scraproom. And we are progressing from room to room...re vamping, de wiring computers and tvs.
I am trying to talk dh into a covered porch, I figure if I call it a 'man cave' he would go for it. BUT he isn't sold yet.
