I have some damage to my vocal cords from surgery. My vocal cords keep getting worse. I would love to hear any experience since I am not familiar with this. Thanks, Jen

Well, I kind of know what you mean. Years ago I had half of my thyroid removed, and I remember being concerned about possible damage to my vocal cords. A that time I read that it could take about 6 months to a year for the cords to recover. How long have you been suffering from this?

My eldest had surgery at two weeks and one of his vocal cords was damaged.
In college he had a very serious throat infection which the doc thought was a result of the damage or exacerbated by the damage.
He loses his voice a lot when he is exhausted or overuses it. He tends to drink lots of tea with honey.
He can't sing at all but neither can I and both my cords are fine.
Interestingly my youngest had speech therapy in high school to teach him how to breath during heavy exercise. He is a long distance runner and his asthma was worse one season so the ENT recommended some tests and his vocal cords were closing at the wrong time. My kid thought it was a bunch of baloney but this therapist had a reputation for really helping athletes and his asthma was better.

My husband has had issues with paralysis to his vocal cords since having brain surgery a few years ago. He has learned to live with it, but his issues are still a nuisance to him.

I thought my vocal cords were fine but over the last two months my voice started cracking and i'm now horse. TFS jen
