Apparently there are a bunch of armed civilians that are hanging out in front of recruiting offices now to "protect" The recruiters because the government will not do it. This guy was showing his gun to another guy and accidentally discharged into the pavement. By the way, this has happened to him before. Nobody was hurt – I get that. But what if someone was. What if the gun had been aiming up and he shot some kid going into the yogurt shop. m.huffpost.com/us/entry/55b1a307e4b0a13f9d180c07?As some guy on my Facebook feed said: This is the problem with open carry. Who is going to protect the public from morons with guns? While they believe they are protecting people and preventing crime, the general public is at a higher risk of injury due to dumbasses playing with guns and pretending they are Chuck Norris in walker Texas ranger. Just wait, there will be several innocent bystanders killed by dipshits with open carry guns.

Oh my. I think it's safer for everyone if they are kept away.

Yes. This is happening at the plaza next to where I work. We are all quite nervous because there seems to be a high likelihood or potential for tragedy. Right next to that plaza is a hotel used by the city to house homeless people and those newly released from prison. They tend to hang out around that plaza, in part because it has a pizza place and a Dollar Store. They can be loud. I am sure they make some people very nervous. Most of them are black or Hispanic. The "protectors" are all white. We are waiting for something awful to happen. The city has been sending police to guard the plazas because they too are concerned about the situation. So now we have "protectors" with guns, cops with guns, innocent bystanders galore. SMH

Oh no. I'm okay with carrying with a permit, IF a course has been taken and proficiency has been proven. Even then, it's still very scary. I believe in guns for home invasion protection. Again, if the above things have been met. What I don't get is why these government recruiting buildings are not guarded now since our military members are a stated target and have been for some time now. Our local Social Security office has an armed guard. What is the criteria for government building protection?

My state, Michigan, authorized National Guard members with a license to carry concealed in uniform back in March. I'm happy to see more states hopping on board with that idea since Chattanooga.

Yeah, I don't see these people as protecting, but more of trying to make a point. To me it is protesting, not protecting. It would make me a bit nervous if I worked/lived around it. Let the recruiters be armed and these guys would go home.

And an awful waste of police time having to protect people from the jerks that think they know it all!
