I need eyeliner help.
This morning during my optician appointment I learned the eyeliner I'm using and where I'm using it (I put in on the inside of my lower lid) is causing my dry-eye problems. The doctor suggested I need to put it on the outside of the lower lid. This is where I need help. I have very oily skin and I'm a clutz. The few times I've tried applying the liner to the outside of the lid within an hour I've managed to rub my eyes and I end up looking like a panda.
What is the best (and also something I can buy at CVS/Walgreens/etc. that won't cost an arm and a leg) eyeliner to use that will be easy to apply and will actually stay where I want it to?

I hadn't not found anything I like, until I tried It Cosmetics waterproof eyeliner. Unfortunately, it's $24, but it's the only one that works for me. I've had it over a month though, so it seems to last a while.

also I found what helped me no matter what the brand is to use some "setting powder" it helps absorb the oils and doesn't smudge my liner which used to slide down my face by the end of the day

I have a felt tip style eyeliner that won't budge for anything. It's a Rimmel one.
ETA Sorry it's not Rimmel it's Collection 2000.

Don't use liner at all on the lower lid, use a brown eye shadow and a small eye shadow brush and really get in there at the lash line with the brush. Then apply your mascara on the lower lashes per usual. Lining the water line of your lower lid as you've been doing closes the eye and makes it appear smaller. Like someone else mentioned, you can "set" the shadow with powder and it won't smudge. I know all of this because I lined the lower lid waterline for years too.

You can dampen the brush first and it works beautifully.

I like Physician's Formula. I think Walgreen's carries it. I buy it on Amazon.

I use Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner. I've never used eye liner on my water line as I wear contact lenses and I am afraid that liner there would get all over my lenses.

I'm kind of an oily person in general lol
My eye make up tends to run but lately I've found that I have to watch what I use to take my make up off with. Some brands are oilier than others. And tends to stay and cause my make up to run. I've switched eye make up remover brands and lately I have had better luck with all my eye make up staying in place better.
just thought I'd mention.
(I also used to add in some anti aging moisture eye stuff too but it really wasn't doing me any favors with my make up running so I go back and forth with it now or only use it at night.)

I do the same as above. I use a dark brown/black eye shadow and wet my thin angled brush to make a line. I use it on the top and bottom. Easy for everyday.

I think that lining the lower lash line looks very "old".
It's not really the in thing anymore.
Try lining just the top!
Much younger and looks more fresh and current.

For ME, it has nothing to do with making me look "old". I have NO eyes without mascara and eyeliner. I don't like the way I look w/o them.

Use a nicely pigmented shadow and a small brush to apply it. I avoid the water line due to contacts, plus it often looks too harsh.

I agree that it can look aging but I find that's usually if you use a harsh black line. I've been doing some fun bright liners that look more modern (at least I think so, I might look a bit mutton to other people!!).

Lost my lashes in a battle with a fire and they grew back very thin and light. People have said that to me too, but it doesn't matter to me. I think most of them have lovely lashes though. As long as I am careful with how I put it on, it looks much better.

Another vote for IT Cosmetics on QVC. Mally on QVC also works but I hate sharpening pencils. IT is a felt tip. I'm pretty much using IT for most of my makeup these days. I like a lot of coverage and the Bye Bye concealer is great. People who haven't seen me for awhile rush up to say how great I look. Even the IT CC cream foundation covers a lot. I do love Buxom lip gloss...it's the best out there but only Sephora sells it now.

Surprised someone above thinks lining your lower lashes is "out"....all you have to do is look at all the commercials. Eyeliner is very big these days.

Make up setting spray. Specifically Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. I had my make up done by a make up artist friend of mine and she commented about how I am a teary eyed person, so she really laid on the spray. On a normal day I would have had all of my eye make up melting off and settling under my eyes within an hour. That night it was humid, I was sweating on the dance floor, and it was sprinkling on and off. My make up didn't budge. I had to use serious elbow grease with my make up remover at the end of the night! The next day I went out and bought the spray.

I know you said you wanted drug store brands and if you find the suggestions don't work for you I would plan to visit Sephora or a make up counter. Tell them your issue. You may find that you pay $20+ for something but they last for a long time. I am using a BE that I have had for a couple of years and I keep waiting for it to run out. (Not sure about it smearing because I do not have your issue so not a recommendation)
