I want to do this photo with our football team this year. Do you think a special lens or setting was used, or did they just lay down on the ground and have the team stand over them? The way it curves makes me wonder. Thanks so much ![](http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j235/BeckyJo328/ce913093-71bc-4df8-9202-13f7a6eeabba_zpssm9er0tn.jpg)

That is taken with a "fish eye" lens.
I have seen some very inexpensive stick on/clip on lenses for iPhones that might work for this, if you don't want to drop $$ on an actual fish eye wide angle lens.
There is also a "fisheye" app - but I don't know if you would have a wide enough angle with it.

You can rent a fish eye online or a local camera store.

You can rent a fish eye online or a local camera store. I was going to a great R noting on as well. When I get to my computer, I'll post the photo we did of our varsity seniors and the parents. The boys liked it!

I was afraid I would need a special lens. I would be taking this more for fun, so dropping money on a special lens is not really an option. . I do a fun picture of the Seniors each year, if they want and I have always wanted to try this one.
Maybe I will play with my lens and then apply a fish lens after the fact.
Thanks everyone.

It looks more like just an ultra-wide angle to me than a fisheye, although either could probably work. Make sure you've got a wide enough angle to get all the bodies in before you try it "for real". Applying a fisheye filter after the fact won't help if you can't get everyone in the shot to begin with.
There's also a light source coming from the camera, probably just a flash. If you're shooting up into the sky without balancing with flash, you're just going to have dark faces.
