Despite my use of sunblock for the last 20+ years, my naturally pale/fair skin has been damaged by the sun (and it's winter here for 8 months a year--so not fair!!!). Just within the last year, I've gotten darker blotches on my forehead--not super dark, but enough that I've gone back to wearing bangs because I'm a bit self conscious about it. As I've replaced my make up and skin care products when they've run out, I have gotten new ones that claim to help fade sun damage, but none have done a really stellar job. If I could avoid having to go to a clinic/spa to have some more intensive work done, I'd be thrilled--has anyone found a product or a product line that actually fades sun damage blotches?!

Sounds like chloasma/melasma to me, which is a hormonal thing rather than purely sun damage. Lots of skin care claims to lighten it but personally I have found the improvement to be minimal. Using absolute sun block and the passage of time seems to be what has reduced mine.

I would check with a dermatologist. I don't believe any OTC products will make much of a difference. I had some sun spots and the dermatologist used IPL to remove them.

I just saw a dermatologist a few weeks ago for a similar problem. He diagnosed it as melasma and prescribed a product called Triluma. After just a few weeks, it has made a huge difference! My skin looks so much better.

I hadn't thought to blame hormones--goodness knows they are causing enough other problems, I should've guessed!

Yup, hormones. I developed dark spots when I went on hormone replacement.

I tried all the creams OTC and from the dermatologist. Mine said the next step would be lasers. I think I will wait on doing that measure for a while.
