A few friends and I (4 of us, total) are looking for a hotel or inn in the New England area where we could meet up to scrap for a long weekend. One person will be coming from CT and 3 from the Boston area. We're looking for an alternative to the usual large, organized crop of 100 people held at a hotel that we usually do, and were thinking of maybe a small suite at a hotel or maybe an inn that caters to scrappers... That sort of thing.
So, I was wondering if anyone here might have any ideas of such a place in the New England area that we might consider? Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give us!

I've been to several scrapbooking retreats at the Apple Tree Inn in Stockbridge, MA. The owners and staff are wonderful and understand scrapers. I'd highly recommend them. And the berkshires are great for a getaway! Have fun wherever you end up!

My friends and I often make our own crops (anywhere from 2 to 4 people). We get a two bedroom unit at a Residence Inn (Marriott) and bring a 4' folding table or two. We love that breakfast is included and we can bring our own food for other meals if we want. It usually ends up costing us about $60/night each for the hotel. We have found a couple that are near shopping areas that we like and although there are no views, the hotels are great. Our favorite is the Residence Inn in Portsmouth, NH (Airport). We get the 2 bedroom unit with king beds and 2 bathrooms. There's a lot of room to spread out and lots of shopping/food options in the area. You can stop in at Absolutely Everything in Topsfield, MA on the way up. There's also a Residence Inn in Foxboro, MA that we're looking at for our next weekend. Right at Home Scrapbooking is in the next town over and Patriot Place (lots of shopping/food) is nearby. We've also stayed at the Towne Suites (also a Marriott) in Peabody, MA but those 2 bedroom units only have one bathroom and are a little smaller. But it's a good location near lots of shopping/food and they have a good breakfast. It's also a little cheaper than the others and that helps too. So I would suggest checking out Residence Inn locations that would work for you and that have bigger 2 bedroom suites.

I'll check out some Residence Inns. And by the way, isn't Absolutely Everything a fantastic store?!

Michellegb, these are great suggestions. Thank you so much! I'll check out some Residence Inns. And by the way, isn't Absolutely Everything a fantastic store?! It is a great store. They "reinvented" themselves at the end of last year into more of a mixed media/card making store, but they still have some scrapbooking supplies and lots of great tools and supplies. There is also a great bakery hidden beside the plaza the store is in (Topsfield Bakery) that has great whoopee pies and treats that they sell right out of the kitchen. And the pizza place in the front of the plaza has these yummy "pitzakis" which are individual size made-to-order pita pizzas. As you can tell, it's one of my favorite places to take a little road trip to LOL!

I have been to the Mountain Top Inn and the Hawk Resort for small organized events (35+), both are lovely and have great amenities: www.mountaintopinn.com/www.hawkresort.com/My group that I go to retreats with switched from Hawk to the Lake Morey Resort. I go, but I don't have great things to say about the service there. The Inn is fine and in a lovely letting and it has some nice amenities but overall I find it shabby. I wouldn't go if it wasn't for the people who run it (my LSS) and the people I go with. lakemoreyresort.com/I think many inns are open to small events like this, especially in their off seasons in early spring (April) and late fall after leaf peeping and before snow (November). Here are some I have heard of: www.mountainmeadowslodge.com/ Halladay's Harvest Barn Inn www.harvestbarninn.com/ 802-732-8254; harvestbarninn@gmail.com; Craft weekends with accommodations for up to 14 guests. Full homemade farmhouse gourmet meals and cookies are served each day. Lots of scrapping space is available in our function barn Sawyer Mansion Bed and Breakfast Full service weekend bed and breakfast accommodations for up to 6 guests; SawyerMansion@outlook.com; 802-368-2547 If you come to Vermont, stop at my favorite LSS www.scrapbn.com/index.html I saw this group on tv (NH Chronicle) - www.yankeescrappergirls.com/weekends.html

I don't know if they have any Homewood Suites by Hilton, but those include Breakfast and dinner on weekdays, just breakfast on the weekend and have generally 2 rooms - a living room and a bedroom. If you got 2 double beds you would be able to use the living room area for scrapping and use the pull out sofa if needed.
