So that my eldest DD and her boyfriend can spend a few days at the beach.
She told me a few days ago that they were planning on going.
She told me today that all the rooms are so expensive and she then told me where they were going to have to drive in order to keep the cost down.
I decided that it would be a relief for me to know they weren't staying in a dump or in an unsafe place and decided that we have more than enough hotel points...and that I'd rather "donate" some of my points for her to use so that I knew they were safe.
DH doesn't know I've done this...he's on a 10 day trip with DD#2 visiting London, Paris, and Rome.

I'm sure they'll be delighted. I hope you have a trip for yourself planned too- your husband certainly has a great itinerary!

We have done the same thing so I totally understand. If your DH is anything like mine, he won't have any issues with doing that for her! I hope that they have a great trip! Agreed...I cannot imagine he would have issue with it. He wants her in a safe place as much as I want her in a safe place.
I gave DD all of the info including the $22 valet parking fee that will incur daily. I explained to her that it would be wise to plan your trips in the car so that you're only having to get the car out/drop it off once a day.
She asked if there was any "non-valet" parking available. I told her that because of its location, there was no other parking available. (we've stayed at this hotel in the past) I then gave her a bit of a smart assed tone and told her "if you've got issue with paying $30 per day for parking/valet while getting a $250 room for nothing, just LMK and I'll cancel the reservation, get my points back, and you're free to stay at the $65 per night hotel that has free parking." I think at that point, she reconsidered her thinking of the valet issue as a negative thing.

It's great that you had enough points to share with them. I have also paid for travel expenses for safety's sake.

That's very nice of you! Though I kinda think it's a right of passage to stay in cheap, crappy, out of the way (though not unsafe) hotels when you're just starting out. I remember many a vacations spent in $30/night rooms (this was a long time ago ) further away from the attractions, really makes me appreciate being able to afford better now. Truly unsafe areas are totally different though.
