OK, this may be a dumb question but my niece is getting married in Sept and I'd decided, for one of her gifts, to make her a "quickie" 8 x 8 scrapbook album. I'd gone to Hobby Lobby and Michaels and was unable to find them there. In fact, Hobby Lobby and Michaels had a very poor selection of 8 x 8 albums. I finally found an 8 x 8 wedding album kit made by Me & My Big Ideas on amazon.com but there were only a few of them left. My niece isn't really a "scrapbooker" but I thought the papers and embellies were nice enough to create an album where she only had to insert photos and do some journaling, and she could set the album on her coffee table or on a shelf for showing friends and family. Anyway, I thought there'd be oodles of 8 x 8 kits and papers to choose from but... I either was looking in the wrong places or the 8 x 8 size isn't as popular as it used to be. Does anyone know? I'm just curious.

I don't remember their ever being boodles of 8 x 8 albums. I have done them for gifts, but I think I found the albums at thrift stores. Online stores would probably be your best bet as it is for just about everything else scrapbooking related

My local Hobby Lobby still has 8 X 8 albums and page protectors, but I have had to go online to find divided page protectors. But overall I haven't noticed a huge drop in 8 x 8 stuff. That being said - I find myself having to shop online more and more all the time for all scrapping supplies

I use 8x8 exclusively for my December Daily albums and have found them in various places. The last ones I bought were from Hobby Lobby. I think I've even seen some recently at Tuesday Morning but didn't buy any because I have a pretty good stockpile of them going at home already. I usually use pretty basic colors and those are probably easier to find than something more unique.

I have several 8x8's. I had some from years ago when they were more popular and then last year Marshalls had the WRMK 8x8's for $3 and I bought the 4 they had! Plan to use them for graduation books for the boys and theater for dd.

I do 8x8 and the only albums/page protectors I can find are the WRMK ones... I like their quality so have never looked for other brands... I've never seen 8x8 specific products, except for a couple plain cardstock pads by Martha Stewart... But same goes for 8.5x11 - a few albums, and plain cardstock comes in that size, but otherwise it's 12x12 or PL style stuff that gets incorporated into the smaller sizes...

I bought some 8x8 WRMK albums and page protectors at TM about a year ago, but I haven't seen them lately. My M's still has some post-bound 8x8 Recollections brand in stock. I really like the size and wish I could find the WRMK in a couple more colors.

I think 6x8 is way more popular. That's the size I decided to use a couple of years ago when I made a wedding album for my sister because I could find page protectors, etc. easier than 8x8. I've also used it for December Daily. I would guess that you'd have to either buy a lot of stuff online or make it yourself by cutting down 12x12 size items. It's very thoughtful of you to want to do this for your niece!

I love scrapping 8x8 or 9x9 but I never did it for my own pages because it's too hit or miss getting page protectors and I didn't want just a few of them on the shelf with other sizes.
Joann.com has several 8x8 albums though if you are looking.

I don't know why I thought that the 8 x 8 size was more prevalent. I think it's the perfect size for gift albums. I'll have to keep an eye out for the WRMK albums. Thanks for the suggestions!
