There is a big difference between luring an animal away from a protected area and killing him for sport vs. protecting yourself or your village against an attack.

I kind of feel the same way about those who condemn the seal hunt. The difference there is that seals are not a declining species.

Food for thought. We should be just as exercised by the human rights issues caused by the unspeakable Robert Mugabe as we did about the lion. I have many friends from Zimbabwe and this is exactly what they would say!

Is Jericho too ugly to go see? Cecil was unique. He had a black mane, Jericho does not. That uniqueness brought in visitors with money. From what I read today the dentist has a chance to shoot a "blonde" lion but wanted the one he got instead. The way this was accomplished has been the thing that bothers me most. Sounds like it was all preplanned and illegal all the way around. Now an old school chum is talking about how great of a guy the Dentist is.... As far as Jericho goes, they heard him for quite some time calling to Cecil and of course Cecil was gone for good. This is not putting human emotions onto an animal. It is fact. As far as the people in the country go, I care about their well being also. I just wonder how much of the money brought in by hunters they actually see. The writer did an excellent job. Food for thought, for sure.

I kind of feel the same way about those who condemn the seal hunt. The difference there is that seals are not a declining species. In the 80-90's when the "in" cause were the seals my father used to shake his head. As a fishermen in atlantic Canada he experienced first hand the mess these seals were causing. He said every day I am out hauling my nets I keep wondering why none of those actresses come down here and pose with the huge seals with rotting skin and other wise a nuisance instead of the cute seal pups they used to shoot their ads.
