I really hope we won't have to buy Ali's kit in order to buy a mini. But I have a feeling that will be the catch. I also hope that the DD kit will come with a choice of album or no album. I personally don't care for the 6x8 size. And I've noticed people gravitating towards the 9x12 and 8.5x11 sizes in their scrapbooking. Also, some people who do PL could just add the pages to their album. Or if you are like me, you have a "holiday" album that you add to each year. I love having all the years in one place. It's so cool to compare years with just a flip of the page. This is what I am betting on. Its the typical SC way of doing things. Ali's kit (or maybe one of the mini kits) are going to have to really knock my socks off for me to buy it. Also, I noticed on the timeline there is no date of when they will ship. Surely this won't be an issue...again. Well, shipping probably won't be the issue this time as there is no dock strike and they seem to have actual photos of product and typically they don't have those or they are all digital, so they must be ahead of the game in that respect. There will be an issue though it wouldn't be a SC DD without one. I think we should make a game out of it! We can all guess what the mistake will be and for bonus points guess how it will be handled!

haha, oh, I hope there's no issues. I really do. I'm always one to be fairly optimistic, so I'm hoping because there are no dock problems and because they're doing preorders so much earlier that things will be smoothed out. If there is a mistake in terms of the product, the recent issue with the BUILD kit gives me hope the problem will be solved before we even know about it.

Ha!! To make the best guess, I need to be reminded of all the past mistakes 2014: Shipping delays/"warm red is not red" album 2013: Upside down stars on the album, veneer letters missing/broken (anything else?) 2012: The not exclusive exclusive stamp 2011: ?? Fill me in...I don't know of the mistakes on this one. I mean...what else COULD go wrong for 2015? I'm hopeful that all these mistakes have been compiled to learn from so this year's will be seamless. And, honestly, I"m a little afraid to write out the potential "issues" that could arise (I have a few that are related to shipping on SC's end)...I don't want to give them any ideas! LOL.

2014 also had the "bonus" papers that were clearly inferior first prints that didn't natch the papers that came with the kit. I thought there was something else with the 2011 kit besides the lateness of it, wasn't it something to do with those humongous coaster numbers, or was that just that they were so hurting large and expensive?

The last two mini kits are up! I like Jasmine's colors a lot. Emily Ley's looks like a fun challenge, with those activity based cards, but not my style.

The only mini kits I like are Jasmine's and Peppermint's. Looking forward to seeing the main kit. I hope we get to see everything instead of just a sneak peek. I won't order without seeing exactly what's included.

Darn it, Jasmine's looks amazing, haha! I still am not sure I NEED it, but we'll see what the whole thing looks like before I decide. Ali's kit is up next week--is it the whole kit or just a preview? Preorders start the 3rd, are we going to have a full 'reveal' before then? If not, I'll only be getting Ali's kit. None of the previews for the mini kits are good enough for me to sign up for them without seeing the whole thing. I'm also wondering how big/expensive the main kit will be. Do you think it will be smaller/less expensive than in year's past so people are encouraged to buy extras? And I think I've figured out this year's snafu: not packing the mini kits with the main order

I truly hope Ali's kit will be around the $99 mark (with album) and have the same quantity of contents as years past - meaning her kit will be sufficient to complete the project without supplementing. I could be tempted to buy mini kits to supplement (I like Peppermint's and Jasmine's the most) but NOT if I *need* them. The little blurb on the main page says the main kit will be enough but I'm still concerned. Honestly, as nice as the mini kits are, I'm still not sure how I feel about them overall...it feels like SC FOMO tactics and not so much like "Ali". If that makes sense.

I'm not planning on buying any of the kits, but looking at all of them now...I don't think they go together well enough to have a cohesive feel to mix and match them in the same album. BUT...maybe not everyone's as anal as I am about things matching just right. Or they do match and I just don't see it, lol. Yeah, I'm a whimpy scrapper--I almost need to buy collections, or a DD or kit that's been put together by someone else, because I lack in the area of seeing what really works together.

I really only want Ali's kit (if I want it after I see it) and I'm not really interested in the mini kits. When I saw there were going to be mini kits this year, I felt like it was one of those situations where I was going to be forced into buying something I didn't want to get something I do want. Not like Ali at all and I was disappointed in it. I bought the kit last year for the first time and I loved it, but I didn't love that "red" album that wasn't even close to being red. That still bugs me. I thought for sure that Cathy Z would be one of the mini kits and then I would be buying hers. I was surprised she wasn't, but glad because it saves me money. I didn't really care for any of the mini kits, so I hope that Ali's album/kit stands on its own. If it doesn't, I have plenty of other options including what I already have. I don't need to buy hers, but I would like to.

Yeah, I'm a whimpy scrapper--I almost need to buy collections, or a DD or kit that's been put together by someone else, because I lack in the area of seeing what really works together. I don't think they intend for anyone to buy the main and all the mini's so there's no need for them to all mix-and-match. Going from memory, the mini's are either traditional (true red, green) or non-traditional (pinks, aquas) and have a strong neutral (white, black or gold). I'm expecting Ali's main kit to be middle-of-the-road, having the strongest colours being the ones seen across the majority of kits. Then, you can add one (or possibly more) of the mini kits and build your own collection. The biggest difference between the previews for me are the sentiments. It seems like each one is geared towards different things (e.g., Kelly's=grown-up parties, Jasmine's & Peppermint's=traditional sentiments, Emily's=all ages activities, Ashley's=non-Christmas DD). That for me would be what will make co-ordinating kits the tricky issue. I hope we get to see the cards before having to preorder. I need to know that I'll actually be able to put them to good use.

Ali replied to my question on the SC boards:
"Full kit images will be available on the 3rd when the pre-order begins."
So that's good news!

Ali's kit last year was $100 (with album).
For me, it's Ali's kit or nothing.

Yup, last year's kit was $99 and that included shipping (for domestics...internationals had to pay a bit extra for shipping). I think it was a bit more in 2013 when it was sold through SC (I'm thinking it was in the $120-$130 range if I'm not mistaken...I remember looking at it and since it was my first year doing DD and having my jaw drop...that was before I knew how awesome Ali was, of course). freeatlast that's kind of where I"m at. I just don't really like the other DD kits - not as a whole! Ali's kits just really work with me and my style. I remember I shopped around a lot last year before I finally broke down and bought Ali's kit. Gossamer Blue's was OK but that album was horrid (I'm sorry but the "warm red" from Ali's would have been a million times better than that thing). Same with Scraptastics - theirs was super expensive and I'm pretty sure it had that disgusting 8.5x11 flimsy Teresa Collins album for the album. OA's was awesome and I love the vintage Christmas but didn't want a whole album like that (I just wanted bits of vintage to add in like Marie Lottermoser does). And I learned from 2013 that making my own "kit" is just too difficult for me and is actually something that holds me back from completing the project. So, yeah, if I don't get Ali's kit, I won't be getting ANY kit. Unless someone else's really knocks the socks off of me.

It's always my favorite compared with others out there, and consistently so. But I'm not feeling DD this year at all. I'll wait to see Ali's kit, but since 2014 kit is mostly still sitting in the box it'll need to be amazing for me to consider it.

I've decided that I'm going to make my own kit. As much as I love Ali and want to support her, I want to go with my own theme this year. I really wanted to see that white and gold album that Michelle was talking about but I can't find it. But while looking on Pinterest I got a few ideas. So I'm going to use my White 9x12 album: It is too small for my PL and too big for a mini album. But just right for a large DD. It's been laying around for months so I might as well use it. I have Gold galore in my stash! I'm going to pull from that and buy some other gold items from here and there. Then I'm going to add pops of color with the gobs of Christmas lines I have at home. I'm going to buy a pretty brush script font and use it with my Cameo and also do some gold foiling. And the best of all, I don't have to worry about late shipping, missing items, productions issues or starting too close to December. I can start it today if I wanted to! I'm pretty excited about it.

I struggle with DD for an entire month and have really only done typical PL stuff with a bit of holiday added. So this year, having just come off of a successful WITL and recently deciding to give up on PL, I just may do a WITL - December version and pick a 7 day time frame that encompasses Christmas and a day or two after.

My boys are 19 and 21 and doing a DD for this year doesn't sound like I would have that many stories. However, I have been contemplating doing one not as a daily, but as a collection of the 21 Christmases we have had together. And each page would be a year of my boys growing up. I would love to have a complete album with years of pictures. I would probably have to fudge on the journaling or find a clever way to pull it all together. I know I have the pictures. This sounds awesome

Main kit sneaks are up at Ali's site.
They look pretty damn gorgeous to me. And I'm so excited to see silver in there instead of gold!! I can't wait to see the full kit on Thursday...I hope it's packed. That's all I want to get is her main kit!
