It's a sad day--my MM precision trimmer has most likely seen it's last leg! And I have been online and discovered they aren't making these anymore! They were so popular, I can't believe they quit making them.
Anyway, I would love to hear some great trimmer reviews. I do have one of the fiskar personal trimmers, but use that one when I'm away mainly. I loved that the MM had a self-sharpening blade, so that is my preference in a new trimmer.
Thanks!

I feel your pain. I invested in a Stampin' Up trimmer and while I do like it, I go through blades very quickly and I have to order them from a Stampin Up rep.
Quite honestly, I usually just turn to my trusty fiskars with the wire.

I was in need of a new trimmer earlier this year. After much research, I had decided to take the plunge & invest in a Genesis; unfortunately, it appears they are no longer in production! Eventually I purchased a Fiskars Procision at Michael's for ~$50 (on sale with a coupon off entire purchase).

My MM trimmer has had it too. And it was totally my fault. I was tired and dehydrated and I cut two sheets of 110# cardstock then stacked those and cut again. I totally wonked out the blade. Uggh. I'm so mad at myself. My dad tried to straighten the blade but it didn't go well. It's better than it was but not perfect. I've been using my old Fiskars trimmer. But the blades don't last long. The closest one I can find at a reasonable price is the Fiskars Procision. But it's expensive. I had a 60% off at Joanne's but they said it was one of the products that was excluded.

Yes, but I've admittedly only used it a few times since buying it a couple of months ago. It is certainly an upgrade from my Fiskars SureCut Deluxe (& for only an extra ~$10)! ETA: Another trimmer that comes highly recommended is the Caterpillar Pro.

I'm going to check into the Fiskar's Pro. I may have to pass on the caterpillar pro just because of the color! I'm also going to check out Martha's Stewart's. Not sure I want one that the blade comes down, but it's worth a look.

I've had them all! Stampin' Up rotary trimmer, Carl rotary trimmer, several Fiskars, the green one (is that the Cutterpiller?) and probably a few more I forgot. What was wrong with all of them? They wouldn't cut straight. Oh, they might start out ok but within a few weeks, my cuts were off.
So I bought the Fiskars Procision when it first came out. It still cuts great and straight and I've really used it hard. I liked it so much I bought a second for traveling.

I still use my grey fiskars trimmer that was out before the wire ones. It doesn't cut super straight, so I went to Amazon and found one called Westcott Titanium. The blades are supposed to last longer and it cuts super straight. It has a fold out ruler for up to 17". It also comes with a scoring blade which is really nice if you just have one or two things to score. More than that, I get out my MS score board. I've been happy with this trimmer.

I have a Dahle 550 which I've had for about 10 years now and is still great. I purchased mine directly from Dahle, but I know Dick Blick sells them as well. I cant believe how much the price has increased ( I guess it has been 10 years...) I would buy it again a heartbeat though. www.dahle.com/products/trimmers/RollingTrimmers/professional.htm

I thought the genesis trimmers had a lifetime warranty that's why they were so pricey. How does work now if they are being manufactured anymore?

I think the Genesis are still available from bonniesbest.com. It's my understanding Bonnie's Best is both the manufacturer & exclusive retailer, & the Genesis page on the company website has not been updated since late 2013. I emailed & called the company several times in March/April & have not received a reply to date. I'm disappointed

I have a Tonic rotary trimmer which is also on the way out because it's so difficult to get blades for it - it's been discontinued. I also looked at the Fiskar's Procision but it's pretty large.
Might consider it if I can get my table tidied up enough to make some room!

I had considered ordering one several times but the price always held me back. Of course, if I added up what I had spent on all those trimmers that didn't cut straight, I could have bought 2 of these!

I've come very best to buying a cutterpillar Pro, or a Procision. However, the size holds me back: I have no space for a desktop trimmer and if I made space it would not be easy acces from where I'm working. So I've stuck with my wire-Fiskars, and other than having to replace blades and be careful with alignment, I'm happy because it's conventient.
I also have the Fiskar's 8" guillotine which I use EVERY time I scrap for smaller items because it's conventient, super sharp, and accurate. It's a "must have" addition for me.

I had the fiskars procision and didn't like it at all. Those rotary cutters with the large blade housing take too much effort to push in my opinion. I still swear by my full base Tonic Guillotine cutter if you can find one...they might be discontinued. The other two I use and recommend are the fiskars surecut - the one with the larger base and the stampin up trimmer. But neither of those two are good for heavy duty cutting.

I have the Fiskars Procision and I really LOVE IT!
I got mine last spring at JoAnn's when it was on sale and then used a coupon for 20% or 25% off your total purchase including sale items. (They should have another one like that coming up for Labor Day.) I think I ended up paying just under $60.00.
It's easy to line up your paper. As I'm not the straightest cutter in the word I like the double rail system. I rarely cut anything crooked anymore! Mine gets a pretty good amount of use and the blade has remained just as sharp. Folded in half, it's about 4" taller than my old MM trimmer and about the same width.

Of course, if I added up what I had spent on all those trimmers that didn't cut straight, I could have bought 2 of these! I was on a wait list years ago, before the founders sold the company to Bonnie's Best. When my time came, I declined (perhaps foolishly) based on principle & concerns. It had been over three years since my name was added to the list, the cost had doubled during that time, & this small company could also retire/stop production/go out business leaving no source for replacement parts for years or indefinitely. Like you, I realized it was likely the same cost & much less frustration to invest in a proven trimmer than continue to sample numerous, less expensive options that NEVER cut straight. Once I had finally justified the cost & assigned a space to accommodate its large footprint in my craft room, I was disappointed to find the Genesis was not available! I eventually bought the Fiskars Procision on sale with a coupon at a fraction of the Genesis' cost. My experience has been the same as yours & admittedly a bit shocking - IT CUTS STRAIGHT EVERY TIME!

I have been scrapbooking and making cards for years totally frustrated that I can't seem to cut a straight line...Not anymore because I bought this on amazon and it is great...I still have my other trimmers if I am going someplace. It makes a huge difference and I love the larger grid cutting surface...http://www.amazon.com/Swingline-Guillotine-Trimmer-ClassicCut-Capacity/dp/B00006IATH/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1439519962&sr=8-1&keywords=paper+cutters

A Guillotine trimmer would not work for me because I need one that the blade lifts up. I frequently cut a square out of the center of my paper to use for mats and I do other small trims so a cutter that cuts only top to bottom would never work for me.
I have resigned myself to the fact that I use trimmers ALOT and wear them out. They are one of those items I just have to replace at times. I usually end up with Fiskars, and if my stampin up rep doesn't have my replacement blades again this week that's what Ill be back to using.

I have been very happy with my Cutterpillar Pro. But it does take some 'real estate' and is not very portable.
For crops I had a very old Fiskars, and just switched to the Teresa Collins one...and it was great. (so far). My old one was all blue and it got hard to see the measurements. but it is set aside as a backup, because it is still good.
Had no luck with the Fiskars' wire, my wire started to fray...and it was awful.
