Stay safe, all of you and keep us posted.

The joys of a British summer We're promised hours of thunderstorms, in addition to the rain.

Looks as though Friday is going to be our worst day with both thunderstorms and rain so not planning on going out then! If there is any flooding it's going to make rush hour in the city a bit of a nightmare for people on the move as there are several areas around there prone to flash floods after torrential rain. We can get thunder and lightning storms circling around between land and sea at the coast at times like this and that goes on for hours, so am hoping it's not going to be like that this time.

I notice the weather warning doesn't cover Scotland. That's because it's like that every day here. No warnings required; it's what we expect anyway! (Can you tell I'm rather pissed off with our summer?)

It's beautifully sunny and hot today. After the great hurricane disaster of 87 I always feel the weather forecasts are somewhat exaggerated, fingers crossed it won't be half as bad as predicted.

(Can you tell I'm rather pissed off with our summer?) Our Summer has been mainly like that also! Southeastern Scotland is included in the weather warning for heavy rain on Thursday and Friday - you may just escape that though.

Stay safe, all of you and keep us posted. ScrapsontheRocks - just to say it's now flooding in Kent and Sussex in the South of England causing great disruption after torrential downpours and thunderstorms and lightning has hit some houses - not sure but I think jennyap lives in Sussex so hope she's not experiencing problems. At the moment reports don't mention any weather problems in Wales. It's still sunny and warm in my part of England but the forecast still is for those rainstorms and thunder and lightning to make their way up country over the next few hours so I'm keeping an eye on it and have made sure the wellies are easily accessible.

They've been warned that more is on the way this evening in the south BarbaraUK up to another 70mm apparantly. It's on amber alert between 4pm - 9pm. It's been raining here ( Herts) all afternoon but just normal rain,no extreme downpours thankfully.

Oh gosh @dottyscrapper, it's going to be a real mess there if they get another 70 mm of rain! Hope you don't get the extreme downpours if that weather front starts to move up country as forecast. Still very sunny and dry here at the moment.
