My previous boss lost/damaged about 5. He has a dairy farm and was constantly dropping them in the water troughs.

I think my life is pretty routine, and I usually carry a purse. Maybe the losers are losing them from pockets... This. Or they don't keep the phone in one place (such as either putting in a pocket, carrying, backpack, purse...who can keep track if it's never in the same place?)

My friend's adult son has a terrible track record with cell phones. He dropped one in the street and it got driven over, left one on a city bus and one in a taxi and has broken a few others in different ways. My friend told him he'd be better off with a landline!

Sheepishly raising my hand. Several years ago I had just bought a new phone, it was like two weeks old. For some dumb ass reason I laid it on my running board (I was in dh's truck). I took off, heard the crunch and knew I had just killed it. I seriously cried, I didn't get insurance, told the salesperson I didn't need it because I was *careful* with my phones. Sigh.

I have a friend who if I text her and she doesn't text back within a day or 2 then I know her phone has been "stolen". Now it could be the people she hangs out with or it could be that she just lost the phone. I've known her for 1.25 years now and I think she has had 5 phones.

Nope, I’ve never lost or broken a phone *touch wood*. When I got my first iPhone I bought one of those covers that looks like a wallet that wraps around the whole phone so it is totally protected if it gets dropped.
My SIL dropped her brand spanking new iPhone 6 the very day she got it and completely smashed the screen. THAT was a very expensive lesson to learn. I cannot understand why someone would pay hundreds or even close to a thousand bucks on a phone and not even bother with any type of protective cover. Crazy!!

My 18 year old dropped her phone today and the screen smashed into smithereens. She is so careful with her things but she was pretty devastated even though it is 3 years old and because the battery was dying within a few hours we had ordered a new phone for her. The new phone arrived today and she is paranoid she will drop it.

I'm not careful but have every apple product I have purchased all the way back to my very first G3 iPod from 2003. That was replaced by: the g1 iPod touch in 2007, iPhone 4 in 2010, iPhone 5 in 2012, and iPhone 6 in 2014. my iPhone 5 was never in a case for 2 years and I dropped it 3 times on concrete. I dropped my 6 in the 1st month and have a crack in the corner that you can barely see. I've been lucky.

No broken or lost phones here. The kids know that if they break or lose the phone they won't have a phone. Everything has a case. So many kids we know are so careless. One friend left her Kindle out in the rain. We lived in SoCal during a drought so that "accident" took some doing.

I know men that frequently leave them in bars/cabs. The find my iphone app is very useful in recovery.
I've never damaged or lost my phone.

My DH has had his flushed down the toilet by one of our kids (the toilet had to be replaced because it was stuck), drops and cracks screens and washes his phones. He's been though 4 or 5 phones in 7 years, which seems pretty good compared to some of the stories here! I'm pretty good with phones, I've only cracked one screen out of the 5 I've had in the past 10 years. Never lost or broken one, so I feel o deserve a new one every time I can upgrade.

DS16 has done it three times..... "It just happened" is the best explanation he's come up with.
