Am I the only one who doesn't "get" mood boards?

No, you are not the only one. If I were actually designing something big - like redecorating my house or a whole scrapbooking line or something, I would use a mood board. But I generally don't have use for one at all.

I can make a guess as to what it is. Please explain it so I know if I am right.

I sort of get it, but I really don't see the point of making and using one. My mood board is in my head.

I guess, maybe, they're a collection of photos to take inspiration from? Like, if I'm pinning a SB layout I might get inspiration for a color, or an embellishment from it instead of using the whole thing... perhaps mood boards are the same thing? getting inspiration for a color, a pattern, or a texture from some item that's included in the mood board?
but no, I don't really get them either... that's not really the way I scrap.

For the longest time I didn't get them, but the way I understand them now makes sense (but I could still be totally wrong). I see mood boards as looking at several images which appeal to you and finding the common theme among them.

The phrase "mood board" bugs me. I just don't get it and (don't want to either.) And that is a stupid thing to think... I am just missing the link between mood board and scrapbooking. I just don't get it

I don't get mood boards either. And I am completely totally annoyed when a scrapbook company or scrapbooker says their paper kit collection (or hoard or stash or whatever amalgam of product) was "curated". No it wasn't curated. Serious misuse of that word. Ugh.

While I can't remember exactly what they are, I remember seeing them once and thinking, "Seriously??? You've got to be kidding me!"
Obviously I didn't get the concept either.

I understand the concept; I simply think that for ME, they are a waste of time and space. My creative mind doesn't work that way...

would a mood board be something like Meg Ryan did in the movie 'The Women'?
If so, I think it is really cool...I kind of did the same thing when we built our home, took pics of the rooms I liked and put them in a notebook. When it was time to pick out materials, looked to see what style and look was common. (for me the common was the color green and a cozy look as opposed to clean/modern)
Would actually like to see how others are using them.

I find them annoying. I guess I'm mostly basing this on SC. Because it looks pretty. But never seems to actually represent what's in the kits. I don't really get it, I guess.

I'd rather spend my time actually making a layout instead of creating a mood board to inspire me to make a layout.

here's a couple from pinterest: pinterest mood boardmood board #2mood board #3mood board #4they could possibly be a way to get inspiration for a layout, a room design, etc. but only if I'm looking at other people's already put together-- like someone already said, why would I waste my time putting together a mood board when I could be putting together a layout?

The only thing I get from them are color schemes. I have a hard time pairing different colors together and thinking outside of *my* normal favorite colors.

I see that as a great idea for room decoration or something on a larger scale. To build a scrapbook page? It sounds like another gimmick to get you to buy something.

I wouldn't mind it if it was a challenge". So, in this case, someone would put together a mood board and get other people to take inspiration from it (style, colour scheme etc). But I don't want to make a mood board to inspire me to scrap a page. Too much work.
