I was reading a few articles about the recent DNA discovery that President Harding had fathered a child with his mistress, Nan Britton. It made me wonder if it will stir up the old gossip that he was murdered by his wife. I think it is interesting that no one believed Britton's story for years when she was telling the truth. And if Mrs. Harding knew about the affair and child, how much did it bother her since they were unable to have children of their own (he was believed to be infertile, oops).
While it is really just silly stuff in my mind, it does make me think about how much we rip through our politician's private lives now. A lot of our former Presidents almost make Bill Clinton look like a choirboy.

Amazing how DNA tests are rewriting histories, large and small. My husband experienced this very thing just today when we received his DNA results back from Ancestry.com and we found out he doesn't have a drop of the Native American DNA we were expecting to see. All his life he had been told that one of his great great grandmothers was full-blooded Cherokee. Appears it wasn't so.

The regular price is $99 for the autosomal test. (Results show both maternal and paternal lines) Just recently they had a $79 special which might still be going on.

I read about this earlier today. I find it interesting that one of Harding's grandnephew still questions the relationship even after the DNA tests were completed. Heck, Elizabeth Blaesing looked just like him. With the resemblance and DNa, it seems pretty conclusive.

Looking at the pictures of the president and Elizabeth, it makes me wonder why they even bothered with a DNA test! She is the spitting image of him! I guess that is exactly what kept the rumours going all these years.

As I understand it DNA can show some markers for American Indian but cant defiantly say you don't have any American Indian ancestors. I may be that your husband just didn't get any DNA from that Ancestor. Perhaps some of his cousins did. DNA is not passed down equally to each descendant. My understanding anyway.
