My dd transferred pictures from my Canon yesterday to my computer, I saw them transferring but they are no place to be found. The folder is empty! I put the Compact Flash SD card in the Camera and it says I gives me the number 888, and 4 pictures still show up? So what happened? I bought SD card reader this morning when I went to Walmart and tried their photo machine and only 4 pictures show up. Is there a way to get those pictures back? I had Xmas, Vacation, Birthday and Drivers Training and 9th grade awards ceremony, I am so heart broken!!!!!

I don't know what happened. it could be a corrupt card, it could be a setting on your system. But, you can google for an image recovery program. It is possible either the card manufacturer or the card reader manufacturer has one for downloading.

I have had good luck with a program called Recuva - it is a free download.

Curious if you got your photos back? I have had photos end up missing and it makes my heart hurt for you!

I thought I lost photos last week, when in reality I just picked up the wrong memory card. I realized it was the wrong card because I used recovery software from SanDisk to recover the files. It recovered 4,000 photos, but they weren't recent, so I realized it was an old memory card and I must have misplaced the new one.
Because I already had the 4,000 photos back-up, it didn't cost me anything, and I eventually found the misplaced card.
My point is, the software from some tech company endorsed by SanDisc worked well for finding deleted files.
Side note: this is how that Jodi chick was convicted of murdering her boyfriend! They were able to recover deleted files that had incriminating evidence of the scene.
