I bought a used car several weeks ago and it's financed through a credit union that's local to me. I went online to set up an account so I could make my payments online.
The web site for the credit union asked if I wanted to install Trusteer Endpoint Protection. It's free and a product of IBM. It's supposed to be an additional layer of security for my computer. Has anyone heard of it? Is it safe?
(It's late and I'm tired, so I'm off to bed. I'll check in tomorrow, but I have a busy day, so it might be evening before I can get on again.)

I would not. It is one more intrusive piece of software that someone want to install on your computer.

I may be mistaken, but I think we have it on our computer. I think we got it when we first logged in to our USAA accounts.
Whether or not it is good...I can't say.

It is perfectly safe. My job entails working with a lot of bank websites, some which use Trusteer. It is a safety measure actually to keep your account safe. Some banks (like SunTrust) won't let me log in unless Trusteer has been installed. It won't harm your computer.

The bank we use through work uses it and encourages its use. I don't think it carries over to any other websites though.
