Beautiful layouts Ashley! Very creative ways to use the straws. I just couldn't visualize them on a layout, but they look really nice. Thanks for sharing!

(I've been liking posts as I read them and don't want you to think I like that...it's more a "thank you for posting" like!) I do the same thing! It's not that I like what's been said, but an acknowledgement or empathy or like, whichever makes the most sense in the situation.

ashley, your layouts are lovely. I didn't even realize they had straws on them until you posted here. It will definitely make me rethink them.

Depends on which surface you're talking about, LOL. My desk currently has a big pile of half cut up cardstock that needs to get trimmed down and filed in my scrap drawers, the pieces for my great niece's birthday banner that I'm working on for her upcoming golden birthday, a pile of random crap that I'm not sure what to do with but I don't want to throw it away (yet), a Peeps coloring book, a full washi tape spinner (I've never used it once!), a little wooden bin with a bunch of binder clips in it, a ceramic snowman bowl with more small random crap in it, ugh. I need to clean off my desk! My work tables are currently covered with a bunch of stuff I bought before we went to my nephew's wedding, a pile of DD's craft stuff, another pile of her craft stuff, some stuff I pulled out of the closet when the closet guy was coming over with my shelf that hasn't been rehomed yet, and some really old negatives from my mom's house that I want to scan. The tables need to be cleaned off before next weekend when I have some friends coming over to scrap, and that's where they sit!

ashley, I was going to say straws as one of the trends I didn't get. You have made me totally rethink it. I love your layouts, and your use of the straws is brilliant! I have some gray ones from a swap, and now I know what to do with them.

8_16_15Desk by elizabeth_davolt, on Flickr This is as clean as it gets for me! I use paper from our various moves as my base layer. It's great for stamping off stamps to clean them or to see how it stamps first, practicing writing, etc. I change it when it gets really nasty. But now that it's clean I can start messing it up again! WOO HOO!!

I have to clean up after each layout or it makes me crazy.
I keep my pretty new pink self healing mat, some mason jars with pens, ruler, and scissors and my trimmer on my desk. Oh, and two lamps.

I'm in the process of making/filming a watercolored card. This is how I left my desk yesterday...probably won't get back to it until tomorrow.

I mostly buy them because I like the colour combos and the way they add some interest to a tablescape for a party, but they sometimes do work really well on a page! I've been thinking it would be fun to use four pieces of straws to make a frame around a photo...

On the right hand side I have two spinning organizers with my most often used tools and adhesives, my OTT light, and in the far corner I can't reach my clip it up with alphas on it. Only place in my room it fits because of the height. It bothers me visually but has no impact on usable desk space. The rest of the desk is left clear unless I am using it. Typically my trimmer and Scrap n Easel will end up there as well. Right now my laptop is there because I'm having issues with my TV.
I go in and out of crafting phases. If I am not in crafty mode my desk will often have pileup on it from DH bringing things upstairs, not knowing where they belong and laying them there. If I am using my room my desk will always be neat. I clean as I go and when I am finished with a page/project. I have my tools/embellishments/paper set up so that I can reach and put away most of it with one hand, and it my shelves are directly behind my desk so I just have to spin around.

I spent today painting instead of scrapping, so my work space which is very tiny, has my project and various bottles of paint, masking tape, paint brushes, and miscellaneous items littering it.

crazy4scraps I'm so jealous that you have space for (multiple) friends to come scrap with you!

crazy4scraps I'm so jealous that you have space for (multiple) friends to come scrap with you! I work from home which is really why I have that much room, but it has been my goal to have a space big enough for friends to come work on their stuff since DH built out my first tiny studio in the attic of our old house almost 20 years ago. (That space wasn't really right for it though and I never did have anyone come over to work on stuff when we lived there.) It's been a long time coming. I've already had people come over a few times to scrap/craft since we moved in three years ago, but haven't really been able to work on my own pages because my stuff was all packed up and it was nothing more than an exercise in frustration. ("I *know* I have bandana paper... Which one of these 52 boxes is it in?" And three hours of fruitless searching later, I'd just give up.) I'm pretty excited to be able to actually sit down with my friends and get my own scrap on for a change, and actually know where all of my junk is!

I have a large cutting mat that I use to protect my desk from cuts, glue, ink, etc.
as far as projects, I have 3 "best friend" albums that I am about to start.

It's awesome that you have friends who still like to scrap! I had extra lights installed in our dining room for when my mom and sister came to craft but they don't really do it much anymore. Have fun, can't wait to hear how it goes!

I scrap on a kids picnic table.I have to put everything away because it's mostly used for my son's therapy. I also use the top of an old dresser/hutch in my living room too. I guess on that surface would be some random pattern paper and 4, small three door plastic storage things. When I get really serious, I bring out the 6 foot folding table.

I'm away but I left my table clean , mostly because I had nothing to scrap! Coming home with lots of pics and lots of editing ahead of me, though.

I scrap on the floor but my table houses my typewriter, my sewing machine and a pile of layouts that need to get into an album (I need to find some nice 8.5x11 pp's for them). It's also a catch all for little pieces of bits that I want to put into PL or on a LO.

I have 3 tables in my studio. I try to clean as I go. Two tables I actually keep newsprint paper down to catch the messes. Then I have fun paper to use on future projects. Love my "underpaper."

I might have to borrow this idea....we have a few roles of paper for the kids' easel that I could dip into.

Hmm, a project that I dragged my feet on finishing in time for Mother's Day...it may turn into a Christmas present. Photos waiting for inspiration to scrap. New paper I'm loving, but waiting for the right photos to scrap. Tim Holtz mini inks. An Iris case full of used kits from the last crop I attended that need to be deconstructed and put away. Plus my hopes and dreams of getting more scrappy things done....
