Just watched "Cake" today....Jennifer Anniston as we've never seen her----and she did a GOOD job!!! She's suffering horrible, chronic pain .... I enjoyed it, but don't watch it if you don't like depressing movies .....

I would edit your op since it is a little spoilery, you don't find out about the second part until much later in the movie.
And I agree, I enjoyed it. I was a little bored at some parts, but overall I liked it and really liked seeing Aniston in a completely different role.

You need to post a spoiler alert.

I watched this a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I don't usually enjoy Jennifer's movies. I find her acting pretty sub-par most of the time. But I thought she did an excellent job. The story was really relevant to me since I've suffered from chronic back pain for the last 6 years.

I liked this movie also; I especially liked how her relationships were slowly unpacked.

I've started to watch it a few times, but each time I realize that it's going to be depressing, and honestly I have some major crummy stuff going on so I go for a comedy. I will watch it at some point though, I have heard it is good.

Just watched "Cake" today....Jennifer Anniston as we've never seen her----and she did a GOOD job!!! She's suffering chronic pain after a horrific car accident that also resulted in the loss of her young son..... I enjoyed it, but don't watch it if you don't like depressing movies ..... Crap - I haven't watched it yet and am guessing this is a big spoiler? I didn't catch it at first but after I commented the top refreshed and I saw it, hoping it's not a spolier and maybe it is revealed right away and not a spolier. But I'd definitely add spolier in the title or use it the in thread feature for others.

I watched it on Netflix I believe.
ETA: OK, that is weird. I was trying to quote a question on where to watch it. After I answered the post is not even there anymore. I guess my pain meds are really pulling one on me!

I just reserved this movie from our local library a few days ago. There are about 57 people in front of me so it will be awhile before I get it, but I thought it looked good. Glad to hear so many enjoyed it!

I don't get the 'spoiler' thing upset. I would still watch it even though I know what it is 'about' now. In fact, I am more likely to watch it now that I DO know what it is about. We weren't given big details like how it ends, etc. Heck, even if someone had told me the exact way, say, "Sons Of Anarchy" was going to end I would still have watched it to SEE it happen, along with all the other events that took place.

But I don't like spoilers at all before I see a movie.

I haven't noticed anything out of line. It was mentioned that she should put 'spoiler' in the subject line - and that is true. For those of us that haven't seen it, and don't want to know anything about it before we do, that simple action would have stopped us from opening the thread. If you don't mind info before you watch things- that's great. It's easy not to be bothered by something that doesn't matter to you. It doesn't mean the rest of us share your preference though.

Fair enough, I guess. I'd just read a few comments that they had hoped the movie wasn't spoiled for them and I hadn't really seen anything that gave away that much of the movie that would ruin it. But yes, I guess I should have thought, "That tiny amount of info would not ruin it for ME." and realized that some people don't want to know ANYTHING about it. Which I am not sure why they would even open a thread about it if that were the case, because what else would a thread with a movie title be about except people talking about the movie. I don't know, maybe I am just confused. What could be in a thread about a movie that would have NOTHING to do with the movie? I am asking a serious question. Maybe it's something I never would think of.

I saw this in the theater and really enjoyed it. I thought the acting was really good and was surprised she didn't get nominated for an Oscar.

I'm wondering if this is a movie I will relate to, and make me feel better in the end. Or, will I relate to it and feel worse? I'd love the former.
I have some ongoing issues and some just found out issues and I went online looking for a support forum. Something along the lines of general "hey I've been there, chin up!" to "I had the same issue and this worked for me." You know, ways to adapt to keep on keeping on. But what I have found so far has been pretty depressing. I think part of it is that a lot of the posters had severe cases and were not able to get out as mich and were therefore online more often.
Anyway, would love a movie that helps me keep my chin up! What say the peas?

My sister saw the movie and talked to me about what an outstanding job Jennifer Aniston did with the role and about the subject of chronic pain, in general. The chronic pain stuff was information available in the trailer/reviews. She didn't give any of the plot away, but we still talked about non-spoiler points. I'm interested in the movie, so when I saw this thread, I clicked on it, wondering if the OP shared my sister's opinion. If there's no spoiler alert, I don't expect spoilers. OP- don't feel bad. It happens. You didn't do it on purpose- and you modified your subject line. You're good.

I don't like making enemies. I think it is possible to discuss a movie. Did you like it... was the acting good, in this case, if I have a chronic illness would this be a good movie to watch... etc. with out revealing a plot twist or end of the movie. Often on this site when people do discuss these things they use the spoiler feature so that you can read the thread and not have the movie spoiled. I think you are being more literal about the word ANYTHING than the other posters on this thread, certainly more than me. That maybe where your confusion lies.

That is one thing I really dislike about a message board. Tone is hard to pick up and is sometimes mistaken. I truly do have to sometimes balance trying to say what I mean with the fear that someone will dislike me. Here and on places like facebook, etc. But...I get it. Sometimes people can ask the same kind of question and they DO mean it in a mean way. I can assure you I am not that girl. Peace, love, dove and all that. Heck, my feelings get hurt if I hold a baby and it cries.
