Revised: Sorry I was a little emotional and mixed up some stuff here. I'm in Tahoe.
We lost a 21 year old firefighter in the NorCal fire that was hit by a falling tree in the fire.
We lost a young father firefighter in a logging accident - close fried of my brother's, aquaintance of mine. He has 2 very young children.
Then a Carson City (local) police officer was shot and killed by a man holdng his wife and the chidlren hostage. He arrived on scene responding to the domestic violence call and the man came out and shot and killed him.
Any prayers are appreciated. Very, very sad.
Original:
My brother's friend is the young firefighter who was killed fighting the fire when he was hit by a falling tree, he has two very small children and was very young.
And unrelated to fires, a local police officer was killed when he responded to a domestic violence call this week.
Praying for our local heroes indeed. Very sad.

Are you on the California side? I usually hear about California officers killed in the line of duty. At any rate, I am sorry about both of the line-of-duty deaths. Always so hard for the community. I just heard about the fire fighter on the news tonight. I'm sorry for your family's loss, too.

That is sad, not only for the family and friends of the departed but for the local area as well. Those losses will be deeply felt. My condolences.

Our condolences to our fellow first responders. My husband said DV calls are the most unpredictable calls.

Oh how awful! Both of these groups are close to my heart and I can't imagine their pain. I will be praying for the families and community!

Thank you everyone. We are a very small community and almost everyone I know knows at least one of the men killed.
Lucy - I am on the Nevada side, (acutally moving 8 miles out side of Tahoe,) But we are on the both CA and NV side all day because the way the roads around the lake run.

So sad for these men. I also heard about the off-duty police officer who tried to save a man whom he thought was in distress and ended up drowning himself. So, so sad.

Our condolences to our fellow first responders. My husband said DV calls are the most unpredictable calls. Yes, they are. My BIL carries a bullet from one - similar to the situation the o/p described. Guy shot them through the door as they were running up to the house, and it hit him just below the vest. It's the phone call all LE families live in fear of.

Very sad for their families, friends, and community. I haven't seen anything about the shooting on the news, but I'm not surprised.

So very sorry for the loss of the fallen and the community. If not for your post, would not have known. The national media has no interest in sharing the stories unless they can stoke the fires of racial divide.
