I don't post a ton, but I do read here on and off all day long. I'm a homebody because of illness and this is one thing I can do that doesn't make my head pound. My husband and I are taking a three-day getaway to the hotel we honeymooned at a few years ago in a city about 3 hours away. I won't be on here to read up on all the kooky things that are going on in the world and all of the interesting non-news things like pictures of someone's new hair color, etc.
Instead, I do plan to have some fun swimming in the pool, doing a little shopping in their quaint downtown area, going out for some yummy food and just maybe...hitting the casino there. We are having a LOT of marriage issues and are hoping to concentrate on each other and get back on the right track. Wish me luck. The past several days have been wonderful as we have decided to act like we did when we first started dating. We want to mend this so badly.
But I'll miss this place and have some catching up to do when I get home.
You all hold down the fort until I get back!

I usually like to catch up when I get back but sometimes if I can't sleep I pull this place up on my phone and check out the latest news. Like you, I pop off and on during the day so it becomes habit to see what's new on here. Have a great vacation though.

I usually stay connected on vacation. I do cut way back though. Just got back from Crete today but still checked in here periodically.

I always pea on vacation! but my vacations are always to the lake and the ocean so there is lots of downtime to read. Hve a great trip- we will still be here when you get back! Yes, promise you won't go away! LOL We have identified one of our problems as that of not paying enough attention to each other personally. Always being distracted, kind of just living in the same house and we need to knock that off and be each other's focus. We have had a LOT of outside stressors during the past year and haven't been able to ask for or give each other the support we should have. It was very very hard for me to admit my part in this, but when it comes right down to the wire of losing my best friend and the love of my life (the divorce papers are filed) We both had to take an honest look and make some changes. Not saying it is all me, we are both at fault. We vow to really BE there for each other from now on. We are not pulling the papers but will work our butts off for these next two months and re-evaluate then, before it is final. So...I don't even dare sneak on here when we are out and about. In fact, I think I will leave my phone right in the hotel room. NO distractions. And with that....I am off to pack!

I hope your holiday works the magic for you I'm always torn when I'm away - half of me thinks I should switch off from every day stuff and from what I routinely do but the other half says that it's only reading, no different from reading on my kindle so why not? So normally I read a bit but don't post much.....unless something gets to about 7 pages then I probably won't be able to resist!

But DH does get frustrated with me sometimes when he's home and I've got my head buried in my phone or iPad. So I try to put it down more when he's around.
Enjoy the time you have with you DH..we will be here when you get back!!! Focus 100% on you guys!!!

Yeah, I am leaving my Kindle home too. The hardest part will be the drive there and back. I hate riding in a car and usually end up falling asleep. Maybe if I am not reading either a book, magazine or on my phone, I won't get so tired.
It's kind of weird to think back to the world as we knew it without a smart phone by our side to keep us entertained, although it wasn't all that long ago.
I am admittedly a device addict but have been working on that for some time now, even before we got this bright idea.
I've taken to deactivating my facebook for a few days at a time lately just so I can get out in the gardens. I hate that I don't have enough self-control to just not go on there. Being somewhat of a shut-in, the computer is my link to the outside world, but do I really need to know everything that is going on? This place is like crack to me. I learn so much here!

Have a great trip! Road trips often make DH and me laugh like we did way back when. It can be a good reconnection. Eat well, rest well, and talk well.

Hugs and best wishes for getting your marriage back in a good spot.
I pea on vacation. I have pead from doctors offices and hospitals when I had a broken knee. I have pead on buses. I have pead on cruise ships.
It's no different than reading a book.

Good luck - I hope you can get your relationship back on track.
I pea while on vacation. Not near as much, but before we leave for the day, or before going to sleep at night, I'll go online.

I do miss it here, but check in periodically. I don't want to miss an epic thread that will go down in history! It's probably a hold over from the Two Peas days when a good thread would get frozen or deleted before I could check it out. I'm nosy like that!
HappyMama, I'm so glad to hear that you have this getaway to focus on each other. Good for both of you to agree to really work on your marriage. I wish you all the best.

Honestly? No. We went away for five days recently and didn't take anything that could connect to the internet. I loved it and lets just say we found other things to do

No, I really don't. When I go on vacation I don't really do anything online. My phone stays off or put away and even if I have my computer with me I don't spend time on it like I do during a normal day. I love the break from constantly being connected. When I come back to real life everything is right there waiting for me so it's not like I'm missing anything.

I do miss this place when I go on vacation, but I don't Pea or connect to computers for anything or than information like weather, open/close times, basic stuff like that. Basically I stay non connected and focus on the vacation and the people I am with-my family. Everyday life is filled with distractions and vacation time is a time that is set aside for fun so why not lessen the other distractions too and focus on each other? Although I am a life long reader and will bring "real" books with me to read while DH sleeps, or at other down times. You simply can't focus on each other 24/7, right?
This is so wonderful that you and your DH are doing this for each other Happymamma. I wish for you a wonderful vacation!

I don't go on vacation. Not saying that in a grizzly way, I live in my happy place so don't have to escape it but other than the odd night away, I'm always home. sometimes I get too busy to pea and I will be mowing the lawn and wonder how X is doing or Y is doing.
