I know - another MISTI thread... But I wanted to share a video I made about how I use my WRMK Letterpress platform as a stamp press... I've never seen a MISTI in person, and this isn't any sort of slight against it or the inventor/maker... The Letterpress platform is the same basic idea - I just tried using it with stamps and ink pads instead of the letterpress plates and letterpress ink... Short answers: works with clear and red rubber stamps, fits an open A2 card base, sells for $50-70 USD (depending on sales), can be bought at all the usual scrappy places (so you can use coupons)... I show how I make a magnetic grid insert, and a couple options for adding rulers/guides... I'm not much of a YouTuber, but wanted to share this option... If you have any questions that I might be able to answer, let me know and I'll try to help YT WRMK as Stamp Positioner

Thank you so much for posting this! I nearly bought this and put it back because I didn't think it would actually work. I may have to go back and see if they still have it.

I went back and forth for months wondering if I should get it... It went on sale and my gift certificate was about to expire so I went for it...lol I'm not associated with them, but I got it at scrapbook.com on sale for $55 and they still have the sale on...

Just ordered one from Amazon UK. Only £ 39.99 plus free delivery. A MISTI would have cost around £70 plus shipping, which would have been another £30. No contest.

I guess I don't understand how this or the Misti are better than just using a regular stamp positioner which is easier to store and much less expensive. Anyone know?

It would be of benefit to someone making multiples of the exact same card, when you want to stamp the same stamps in the exact same places on every card. It also helps if a stamp isn't perfectly inked or the image doesn't perfectly stamp the first time, you can reink in between and when you stamp it down again a second time it will go in the exact same place on the paper. A stamp positioner works better for individual one-off projects where you don't need to make another one exactly like it.

crazy4scraps, I have used my positioner for making multiples of the exact card. Works perfect and easily. I have too, but this is faster and easier because all you do is put the paper in, ink the die(s) (since you can stick multiple stamps on the lid at once), then close the lid to stamp. Put in the next piece of paper, ink, close the lid to stamp. Lather, rinse, repeat. I could see where if I was going to make 50 Christmas cards or thank you notes all *exactly* the same, it could save a lot of time and potentially fix any images that didn't stamp perfectly the first time since the die hits the paper in the exact same spot every time.

penny - thanks for the video. When all the bru-ha-ha with the MISTI was going on, someone mentioned the Letterpress. I was wondering how it well it would actually work. Right now I'm using a DVD case and fun foam. The only issue with it is that I only have room for a card front, not the entire card base. When I want to stamp directly on the card base I use my Stamp A Ma-jig. Kind of a hassle for lot of the same card, though. I'll be on the lookout for a letterpress...

Also, the letterpress kit is now sold at HL for $70 and you can use a coupon. If that helps.

penny, I love your video. I'm not much of a stamper, but your video makes me want to buy that and become a stamper.

crazy4scraps, I have used my positioner for making multiples of the exact card. Works perfect and easily. I have used a stamp positioner, but say for instance that I have a stamp with a lot of solid surface. And when I first stamp it, there are lots of light splotches and it. With a stamp positioner when I went to restand but it would not be in the exact same place. With the Misti it is. And I often have stamp a sentiment stamp and found letters that didn't step completely. With the MistyiI can restamped exactly where it was. I absolutely love my Misti!

Well, it has come, and I have to say, I am very pleased. Still at the 'playing with it' stage, but so far the results have been impressive. It is very robust.

I never saw this thread when it was first posted, but stumbled upon it now. penny this is kind of brilliant! I watched your tutorial and I'm excited that my old Lifestyle Crafts letterpress has a new use (and might actually get used now - hah!). So thank you for the discovery and for sharing your video! I've already managed to talk one friend out of getting the new card-sized MISTI and get a WRMK letterpress instead.
