I'm a teacher on a long term leave of absence ... truthfully, I'll probably never go back ... anyway, I recently connected with one of my earliest students on Facebook and we are meeting for lunch today We have met up a couple of times before and it is so nice ... she is a mum with three little ones ... I'm really proud of her I'm still determining what I'll make for dinner ... time to head over to my Pinterest boards for some ideas ... I'll update once I know What's on your menu tonight? ETA: Dd#1 requested Oven Glazed Chicken so that's what I'm making tonight ... it's one of only two recipes I make with canned soup

supposed to be yet another hotter than hell day in Silicon Valley. Dh will be home later than usual, our puppy has a late vet appointment (her 12 week shots, poor baby), so I figured we need a quick/cold dinner. For us it's going to be roast veggie faro salad. Figure I can roast the veggies in the toaster oven to avoid heating up the house. More margaritas will probably be served :-)

DH and I will have BLT's and leftover baked beans from yesterday. DS will eat with the family he has been vacationing with, and then we will go pick him up at their house. I am glad he had this opportunity, but I am also looking forward to seeing him and having him home!

It's hot, hot, hot today so the only cooking I did was boiling some macaroni and making hard boiled eggs. The resulting macaroni salad and deviled eggs are chilling in the fridge; we'll have some crackers, fruit, and iced tea to go with.

The only thing I'm sure of is it will involve flank steak. I may grill it with mushrooms and onions or maybe pepper steak or I might get creative and stuff it. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

My older son in the Navy is home on leave. He will be deploying in about a month and his ship will be overseas for 7-9 months. He will miss several holidays and significant occasions with us, so we decided to celebrate a few before he goes. Tonight is Thanksgiving. We're having a roasted chicken, dressing & gravy, macaroni & cheese, and green beans.

3 of my kids head back to the university on Friday morning and our youngest (dd#6) is going back with them for 10 days so this week is all about fixing their favorite foods It's going to be so strange going from a full house to empty nesters. Although on the fun side, dh and I have a bunch of gift certificates to various restaurants that we've been holding on to - I see many dinners out in the 10 days that our youngest is gone. Tonight we are having surf & turf. Lobster & steak, 7 layer salad, and baked potatoes.

My "In loves" are still painting their house so I'm going to make homemade spaghetti and meatballs and bring it over for dinner. Will also make a green salad and pick up a loaf of French bread.
Ice cream for dessert!

I've got a small pot of chili simmering. I'm about to make some cornbread to go with it. That's for the menfolk in the house. I am going to have a bacon and avocado salad.

Newlywoods03, I am also having a spaghetti but with sausage instead of meatballs. Salad with homemade lemon and oil dressing And French bread. Probably tomorrow, I am making Buster Bar ice cream dessert, which is my favorite ice cream dessert ever. It will last for a few days. I haven't made it since last summer, so I am *really looking forward to it. www.food.com/recipe/buster-bar-dessert-72794And Leanne, I taught for 10 years. I don't know if I will ever go back to the classroom but love my current job. Lisa

And the dog. I will likely just hunt and peck at random things to make up a meal. Yogurt, cashews, cheese and crackers..maybe some melon. ETA - I had a Greek yogurt, a scrambled egg and cheese on an everything bagel and some fruit. It was so good.

We are having Crepes for dinner! We bought a new pan yesterday and DH seasoned it last night. I can't wait to give it a try! We will do ham and swiss crepes for dinner and lemon/sugar or banana/nutella for dessert.

We're having breakfast burritos tonight, just because it's different. I'll cook the tortillas myself, the chorizo is from one of DD's 4-H projects (so, so good) and the eggs are from the chickens in our backyard. Easy, yummy and cheap!

My last night of leftovers and I'm glad. I'm getting a little tired of them and am ready for something different. I did have Zaxby's chicken for lunch today.

It was the first day of school for us, too, but too hot, hot, hot to cook. I made a chicken salad with leftovers from yesterday and will serve that on a bed of lettuce with sourdough bread.
I need this heatwave to break or at least cool down into the 60s at night so I can sleep.

It's dh's birthday, and he requested steak fingers, fried potatoes and gravy, and fried okra. We'll have peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream for dessert.
