Yah? or Nay?
They are called "jogger" but they are not sweatpants, they are Khaki/chino/denim material with a knit cuff. They actually come in all different fabrics and they are like a skinny pant with a cuff.
I saw them at Gap, Old Navy, Gymboree, Children's Place, Target, etc. I don't think the style is that new, but they see to be everywhere for this fall and with back to school.
I think maybe they are cute for the little guys (kindergarten) but they go all the way up to size 18 (boys). I can't imagine my older son wearing these, especially with the big sneakers all the boys wear.

My kid wears sport shorts with black socks that go half way up his calf.
I don't understand teen boy fashion, so anything is possible

My little snowflake is required to wear a uniform, but over all, I don't understand boy fashion either. What I think is kind of weird is worn out the door all the time.

Yes - weird is a good word. And when I see a grown man dressed like that I shake my head even more.
I LOVE being the mama to boys, but I get green with envy when I see all the adorable girl choices!

My son is a freshman and he hates them. People in the high school wear them, though.

I can see toddlers or kids up to kindergarten wearing pants like that, but not older boys, especially not in middle school (size 18)!
But, you never know. Maybe someone will wear it. Must be a trend for women too. I have seen pants with elastic cuffs in several catalogs.
One man I work with rolls his pants up every day so they are 4 inches too short and his white socks are showing. I don't get it. Guess I just don't understand current fashion. It brings me back to middle school when other kids made fun of me for having my pants too short when I was growing fast.

We were in Target yesterday and they had a huge section of JEANS with elastic cuffs. Welcome back, 1986.

i bought a pair of casual pants like that... they were sort of cropped with a band at the bottom. They were really loose and the most comfortable and soft fabric. I feel absolutely ridiculous when I put them on.. so they are my after work lounge pants! D:D I can't imagine a high school boy wearing them.

OMG we were doing some back to school shopping yesterday and saw those type of pants. My DS13 had that "hell to the no" look on his face lol! I can't see any of his friends ever wearing those types of pants. To each his own though.

My 9 & 11 yea olds thought that style, with elastic at the cuffs, was awful.

And the white sandals with the black socks. Or the black sandals with the white socks. I have gotten so used to it it not quite as horrific to me anymore. Maybe those jogger pants with flip flops, but nothing else for men.

I can't stand that look, but like you said, I don't understand girl "fashion" these days! Many of the girls at their high school wear those socks and they wear them with flip flops and crocs. Girls!

They are a hot trend right now, been growing in popularity for over a year now. My 25yo son, who follows trends, does have a couple of pairs, Before the joggers, it was trendy to roll your uber sknny jeans ankles into a cuff, resembling joggers. I think it is stupid looking but what do I know. My son is 6'3" and I think that it makes his legs look really dumb. He pairs the joggers with a polo shirt. I do remember when he wore the black socks with shorts - definitely no cargos for him - and am glad that he outgrew that trend. My other younger son would never wear anything that the older one wears. I do think the joggers are for the youth and not moms or dads. And they say girls dress weird.....

DS has a couple of pairs. He is going to be a college freshman. He wore them last year as a HS senior. I think he wore them with loafers without socks. He definitely has his own sense of style. He is majoring in fashion in college.

They started becoming popular last year and I cannot WAIT for that particular fashion trend to move on. I hate them!! I hate them even more than I hate the black Nike mid-calf socks with shorts fad that's been all the style the last few years. What is up with teen boys and these fashion mishaps?? LOL! My grandson is a Vineyard Vine fanatic, yet he INSISTS on wearing those stupid socks with his nice shorts. It drives me nuts, but what can you do?

I saw those joggers at American Eagle. My 13 year old DS, who wears Adidas track pants or soccer warm-up leggings half the time anyway, was not interested even though I pointed out their similarities to his soccer garb. I think those mid calf socks are supposed to be compression socks that runners wear? Those usually go above the calf. At least mine do

I had to google what jogger pants are. Wow, those are awful. I was thinking that they'll be long gone by the time my preschooler gets old enough to care about what he's wearing, but in reality, they'll probably be back!

Personally I love some of these more eccentric trends. the patterned socks gave some life to otherwise bland boy clothing. Same with the options now for shorts. For too long it was only cargos!
My 15 yo wants the khaki joggers, and wants cowboy boots. Hopefully not warn together- but who knows what's next?
