I'm not loving the free shape today but, of course, downloaded it in case I change my mind! Anyone inspired... doesitmatter, FurryP, PepsiGal, Elsabelle? They also have a sale on school images but I'm not in that mental space yet...we have three more weeks until the kids go back! |

ewww! the already-made one they used in the photo doesn't do much for it, either. There's no way I would ever use that shape, free or not... I like most of the stuff I download (or buy) to be multi-purpose, meaning I could use it on a layout as a background, on a card, take small shapes out of the main one, etc. In my opinion, that shape doesn't really have anything useful or decorative about it that I would want to use.

I don't mind the shape of the lantern crimsoncat05 , I would just never use it on a string of lights because it seems like a fire hazard! Now I need to make sure that my scrapbook paper is acid free, lignin free, and fire retardant?  . No thanks! |

I won't be downloading this shape. I'm actually kind if amused by how cheesy it is. I also wonder if putting paper around lights is a fire hazard. Am I just a worrywart?

I don't think it would be the smartest thing to do, but probably not too dangerous as long as they were attended while they were lit. I've seen plenty of stuff on Pinterest where people make their own lampshades for Christmas lights, or twinkle lights... but then again, some of those Pinterest ideas aren't always the smartest, are they?  (eta: it is sorta cheesy... the only other possible idea I would have for that shape is using it for a cupcake holder, if it would be the right size... or perhaps a treat holder for a party. so, it wouldn't be useful to me at all.) |

Thanks for the subscription info! My current one doesn't end until January, but I went ahead and subbed for another year!
The free shape of the week isn't doing anything for me. I just can't see what I would use it for!!

Not to wild about the freebie - oh well!!!! I do like in the new designs the monthly header by Miss Kate Cuttables but September was left out....maybe on her website.

I agree, sometimes the freebies are horrible. The point of them is to bring people to the store every week to check out what is new and if they are trying to achieve that with super lame freebies, it's kind of defeating the purpose! They should do a better job with the freebies. If they were super awesome, I would be on every week!

I haven't even looked at it yet. I didn't pick up the MissKateCuttables one today because I knew I wouldn't use it. I've been swamped and not able to get on the boards since Sunday evening, hoping to catch up tomorrow morning. Then I'll check out this lantern shape.

I think they make LED Christmas lights now that don't get hot so they wouldn't catch anything on fire. I downloaded the shape because it's free, I will probably never use it  |

Ehhh.. It doesn't excite me the way it is. But I could take out the triangles they have, and put pumpkins or christmas trees in place of them, and cut it out of kraft cardstock and like it better! Or even Jack-O-Lantern faces. You can change up the files pretty easily.

I already have enough shapes in my library that I'll probably never use, lol!! (and a good number of them are ones I bought, too!)
every once in a while I think I should cut at least one of every shape I own, just to say I did... and to see what some of them actually look like, lol!

I downloaded it with the intent to just use the general idea and outline but then weld a much more intricate background to make it not cheesy. Also, might use it to spell out Happy Birthday r Merry Christmas with a string of lights somewhere. Might also try making "stained glass" effect with tissue paper behind the intricate background cuts. Who knows if I'll ever get around to it tho. :-) If it doesn't work or becomes a fire hazard, then I can just delete the file.
