I know the argument has been you could put in any email address you want since they don't validate them. I know my ex's email was on the list. His is not one that could be randomly made up due to having 8 numbers in the address along with a nickname. The nickname alone is probably common and there are hundreds, if not thousands, of variants of it out there. It's the 8 numbers he has that made it pretty unique. Coupled with the knowledge that he has surfed Craigslist for one-night stands and has cheated on at least two girlfriends since our divorce makes it pretty likely he did have an account at some point. However, it's all between him and his current GF, especially if he had created an account in the past 5-6 years. I'm just amused and somewhat validated to know that his email was on the list. I knew before and I know it now - he's a cheater and I'm glad I'm not wasting my time on him anymore.
I'm also going to point out that I've entered several old emails, including one I know was hacked a long time ago, and none of them showed up.

we watch light and dark web for indicators of system or account compromise or other data that is in some way tied to our agency, and we do the notifications from our side of things (change all your passwords, don't use your work email for non-business activity, watch out for increased phishing or other fraud activity heading your way, etc.). I don't understand why it would be an issue for your company. Just handle like you normally would and let the shoes fall where they may. They are grown adult people and know that what they were doing is wrong. People need to be held accountable and not handled with kid gloves when they do something wrong. The spouses need to know that their mate is untrustworthy and let them decide what to do from there. I have zero pity for these cheaters. Can you tell? From my perspective, it has nothing to do with the fact they were caught with their pants down so to speak on a cheater website. It has everything to do with the fact that they are now new targets for phishing, blackmail, and potential security compromises for our center and agency.
