Apparently details have now been released but only on the dark web (?) which can only be accessed by encrypted browsers. How long before it's common knowledge? The Telegraph

Yea, I can't see how that would stay out of the public eye for long.

The 'dark web' is easily accessed by laypeople. I'm kind of shocked it's not posted to the www yet.

The 'dark web' is easily accessed by laypeople. Is it? I have no idea, being technically challenged as I am I'm pretty sure it'll be out there soon enough though.

I went on record on the thread a month ago about a colleague sweating it out. I am not due to work with him until plus minus the 7th of next month. However, word is he did not take our advice to come clean to his wife. We shall see. He is a bit of an IT genius, pretty sure he spent the day on the dark web

The BBC news here just discussed that a number of email address were Govt addresses in the US and the UK. There are also Saudi Arabian email addresses where adultery is punishable by death.

from the story I heard, the website never bothered to verify / authenticate the e-mail addresses when people would sign up. So some of those e-mail addresses could be fake. I also heard that some third-party company is going to try and make money off of the whole thing by offering to check 'for a small fee' to see if a person ever registered or used the site. so if someone doesn't know how to access the data themselves, they can pay to find out-

On the radio this morning they were saying that the vast majority of the users were men (duh) but that some of the women's profiles were fakes set up to get men to sign up for the site. So the men who are busted may be only guilt of attempting to cheat. Semantics I know...

It would be a pretty sure bet that it was that person if all of the information aligned. They get what they deserve. I feel bad for the victims in this (spouses, children) but have zero pity for the one that have used that website.

Yeah, we're trying to figure out how to handle notifications on this one. Touchy subject, for sure. I'm not sure I understand? we watch light and dark web for indicators of system or account compromise or other data that is in some way tied to our agency, and we do the notifications from our side of things (change all your passwords, don't use your work email for non-business activity, watch out for increased phishing or other fraud activity heading your way, etc.).

I read ^that^ link. I liked the comment regarding Duggar's likes/desires/offerings that said (paraphrasing), "So he likes giving oral sex? That surprises me." hahaha

I never heard of the deep or dark web but quickly found many examples of how to access it. I waste too much time online as it is. I don't need any more than the tip of the iceberg to keep me happy. But here's one set of instructions for any of you adventurous types! Accessing the "Deep Web" is pretty easy. Here it is in two easy steps: Download and install TOR Browser Bundle: www.torproject.org/proje... TOR Browser Bundle is a browser configured to use the TOR relay network, which anonymizes your connection through a distributed set of relays to prevent someone from learning your physical location and allows you to use sites which are blocked. People use it to prevent websites from tracking their IP, or people in China use it get around the Great Firewall, for example. The browser component is actually built using the Firefox codebase, so if you have used Firefox you will find it pretty familiar. It comes properly configured and won't install any malware or cruft on your computer, as it is written and maintained by freedom fighters, not some large corporation. Once you have TOR installed, open up the TOR browser, and go here: kpvz7ki2v5agwt35.onion/wiki/index.php/Main_Page You'll probably want to bookmark that in your TOR browser, unless you want to type in that URL each time. That's it. You're there. That's "The Abyss," a sort of "Yahoo" (in the 1999 sense) to sites and points of interest around the Deep Web. Feel like you are discovering the internet for the first time again!
