I LOVE the wood floors. I like the lathe/lath? board, but there's a little too much for me.
I love the tub, but it seems to be in a weird spot. The bunk beds in the boys room looks so fun! I love the garden set up.

I've seen most of those pictures before (I think they came out of the blogosphere, right? Isn't that how they ended up with their show?) but I'm surprised that it's only 1700 sf. I'm assuming that doesn't include the attic rooms. It's great to see a family (and a larger family, at that) living comfortably and beautifully in a smaller home.

I love the garden set up. it's called shiplap, I love it too! I couldn't do my whole house in it, I need some color. but I am planning to do one wall in our great room and an architectural niche area with it at some point. must've been really popular in Waco area, they seem to find it in many of the homes as they are demo-ing.

I like it a lot, however, the doll house on the floor between the two twin beds, and the craft room ceiling...I'd be tripping over that doll house and banging my head on the ceiling!

Thanks so much for posting this! It was such fun for me to see the rest of their house and all of the details. I just started watching this show about 2 months ago and I'm so hooked! I adore it! I need to check if it is on Netflix. Right now I'm just recording all of the shows on my DVR. So far I've seen about 10 episodes.

They must have tiny furniture, because the rooms look very spacious, especially the master bedroom. I love the sitting area and fireplace in there.

They have their own construction business in Waco, Texas and a show on HGTV. I think Joanna owns a retail shop as well. I don't know how they got recognition for what they do. @blue tulip, thanks! I knew I wasn't getting the name right. I need to ask my cousin what he calls it, I swear it has a different name in my area.

I knew I wasn't getting the name right. I need to ask my cousin what he calls it, I swear it has a different name in my area. Yes, I know. What I was saying is that I am pretty sure Joanna had a pretty successful blog that showed their construction/design projects in Waco as well as their own home renovation. They had another house they lived in and renovated while they worked on the farmhouse, I'm pretty sure. That brought national attention to their local company and IIRC, is how they connected with HGTV. here's her old blog
And I remember this feature getting a ton of attention in the YHL world.

I know what you mean scrapApea. I would love to hire them to fly to Maryland and find a home for DH and I to buy to do a "Fixer Upper" like on their show. I LOVE what they do on the show-it's just amazing how they can take an old home and redo it! It looks amazing by the time they are done. They work extremely well together with each other's strengths-Joanna's design skills and Chip's construction skills. Plus they are so fun to watch together.
I think their recognition came from their show on HGTV called "Fixer Upper". It's fun to watch. They show a couple that is interested in buying a home 3 choices, and some of them are almost falling down, but have potential. Joanna walks through and talks to them about ideas she has for that particular home. She's always talking about "taking down that wall to open up this space". It really leads to open spaces that makes areas feel larger and works better for the families. It's amazing what she does with designs and I love what she does to kitchens. The more wrecked the home is that they start with the better I like the show.

Love them! Their relationship is adorable. I get a little tired of every house they redo looking the same, but... I do like the style.
