I'm in Texas. In my area a few schools started yesterday (Thursday) and most start Monday (the 24th). The local news is fairly quiet, so most stations are running stories about back to school.
This blurb is on the front page of a local news station's Internet page -
Chris Spencer is the only African American student at Hurley High School, where the front doors he walks through each morning are painted with the Confederate battle flag, but that doesn't bother him. He has a Confederate flag of his own tattooed on his forearm. -------------------------------
So many stereotypically Texas things to discuss. Confederate flags, lack of racial diversity, high schoolers with tattoos, Confeserate flags as tattoos...
ETA - How funny that it's not even from Texas. I was totally wrong. I misread the article on my local page. Totally my fault.

This quote from the article is spot on, that little town will never know a moments peace now.
Roger Hurley says a national story can only lead to no good. “When this hits USA TODAY, we’re ruined,” he says, predicting protesters from elsewhere will arrive before this season is out. “Why punish the kids?”
