No, because I learned a long time ago not to ask questions I don't want answers to. I'm single so anyone I'd look up would be a friend or relative's spouse and I really don't want to know. If I found something then I'd feel obligated to tell the friend or relative and I have no interest in going there.

It's saying we've got 131 users out of around 500 people. I can't see it really being that high.
Anyone figured out how to get names?

If I found something then I'd feel obligated to tell the friend or relative and I have no interest in going there. It would be hard to keep that information to myself. A few years ago, my cousin announced at a funeral reception that he was getting a divorce. Somehow he found out that his wife was having affairs through this disgusting website. My cousin was devastated. I don't know who tipped him off, but someone spilled the beans.

No, my husband has my trust 100% and other peoples douchery concerning their marriages is not my business. Amen. I am afraid if I saw someone who I knew IRL I would call them out on their bullshit.

Not to say anyone here has a spouse being naughty, but I'll be a good percentage of those lists are filled with people whose spouses (husbands OR wives) trusted them completely. I'm sure there are a LOT of shocked spouses.

The mayor of a town next to mine was found on the list. The town had a meeting last night without him being there. There is going to be an investigation. Between the DUI he had a year ago and this the guy is toast.

I only know 20% of my city is on it because of news reports of my city being the city with the most users. It was all over the news, HuffPo, etc. a few weeks ago. I can't find any lists to search.

No. I'm fortunate to have not experienced adultery /cheating in my family or marriage. But my close friend was a cheater, and another was a cheated on. Unconnected cases, and both were sad and hard to deal with, even as a friend.
I do not need to insert myself into another family's drama and pain just out of curiosity.

You can search by name or email address online. Someone sent me the Stafford/Fredericksburg list but I don't know how to get the list for other areas. I'd LOVE to see the one for my little town and the ones around me! is that Maryland?

I would check if I knew people's email addresses, but I dont.
The problem is, there was no confirmation on the emails, so anybody could have used anyone's email for the non paid accounts.

I am surprised that so any of you haven't heard of it because they don't even try to keep themselves 'secret' in any way. When it started here, that guy was interviewed on just about every talk show around, so it got a lot of publicity that way and even though I don't watch much TV, the ads for it have been on up until very recently (not sure if they have stopped after this hacking thing) in fact it was the most complained about commercial last year! It's pretty classy, you can check it out linkThe catchy little theme song is "looking for someone other than my wife" But seriously, I do wonder just how much "cheating" was actually going on? I think most of it is getting dumb guys sucked in, making them pay to sign up and I bet there are very few real women on there, the rest are probably made up profiles to lure the guys in and keep them there....and keep them paying their subscription fees. There's probably a bit of emailing and dirty talk, but relatively few live encounters. I have no doubt that the guys who sign up intend to cheat...but I am very doubtful there are the same number of "real" women there who would make that possible. Women don't have to join things like this if they just want sex, they can get sex pretty easily. I'm sure there are some legitimate women on there, but I think compared to the amount of men, the balance would be pretty uneven. Don't get me wrong, I think the men are still scum bags for signing up and I'd be livid if that was my partner, however I just think there's a lot more fantasy and thinking about cheating, then any actual sex going on.

I tried to find a check by zip site but couldn't, but I did find a message board for my metro area and someone had posted the list there this am. Wow. I kind of wish I hadn't looked- I knew several people on the list, and it's disappointing and in one case (family is having a health crisis with a child) really infuriating the douche bag husband would be pulling this crap. And the message board (which I knew nothing of until now) is discussing local teachers, scout leaders, prominent figures on the list. It's kind of ugly. I imagine the people I know on the list have no idea that board exists and the list is there.
Part of me is horrified by the discussion of people, but part of me thinks "hey moron, actions have consequences. Welcome to the real world."
I won't be looking up any more lists, I was just curious about my area and now wish I wasn't, but if you google combinations of words it's possible someone copied a list from the site taken down and posted it somewhere.

No, I haven't looked, and I have no desire to. Aside from the fact that I have many reasons for trusting my husband, I don't trust the hackers or the site that lists the names.
I don't know how one would go about searching the site, but I would view it as a high risk. Here is why I would be leery:
If the hackers were able to hack into the Ashley Madison site to expose the people who had accounts there, the hackers are probably also very capable of attaching malware to the computers of anyone who goes to the site to check names of people they know. Having just dealt with ransomware, no way would I go look, especially for the sake of curiosity.
I had read that one reason the hackers did this was for the purpose of blackmail. Well, once the names are published, they have no hope of getting blackmail money out of the stupid jerks on the list. Of course, maybe they were only going for well known rich people and ignored small potato type folks, or they just published the list of those who didn't pay the blackmail, but publishing the list may have been more than retaliation against the latter. The hackers are likely to be benefitting in some way. Maybe, just maybe, they could be using this to hack into the computers of the curious. There are many types of malware they could attach to the computers of the unsuspecting, such as keystroke viruses that help them to hack into your bank account. Hacking is, after all, their specialty.
Just my two cents.

My old town of 3000 people has 590 users. Wow.
Where I live now has 41 000 users out of a population of 350 000.
Someone posted the link to the map on page 2 I believe.

Between the DUI he had a year ago and this the guy is toast. Did he do anything illegal with the Ashley Madison site? The fact that his email is on the site is proof of absolutely nothing. Someone easily could have used his email, especially since it's probably a publicly-published email. Even if he did subscribe, I don't think they have a leg to stand on if they fire him for his email being on a list. The DUI is a whole different thing.

I think that map is a crock, personally. There are comments that say there were problems when more than one place had the same named city... and I just looked at the area where I grew up, which is all really small towns. There is a dot on the map marking a totally unincorporated area where very FEW PEOPLE live, altogether, and their map says there were 67 users there, which is BS. Most of the people who live in that area are older generation rural farmers, hardly the Ashley Madison type; I call shenanigans. I agree. I think that map is way off. My town is pretty small (although I don't know population numbers) and it said there were 897. No frickin way! And a very tiny town we vacation in said there were 402. I don't think that town has 402 residents! Many others that I looked were way higher than I would ever imagine.

I agree that map is off. The little berg I'm closest to shows almost 400 users, but the total population is only about half that.

It's not my business, but that doesn't stop me from being curious. I'm a small town girl, it's just the online equivalent of standing in the bathroom with binoculars Lord knows town binoculars caught me in some shenanigans in my teenage years, i'm glad i've settled down! Your comment about town binoculars made me laugh out loud! We had a neighbor who sat in her window watching all the neighborhood comings and goings but would profess that she is a very private person and doesn't want to know what anyone else is doing.

I didn't know there was a list nor was I going to search for one - but my friend sent the list for our area and I looked through it - She is a professional photographer and there are about 6 of her clients on there. She is sick about it for their families - she has been photographing these families for years. A girl I know works at an office of about 80 people - there are 3 people there.
No doubt my hubby wasn't on there - I have to help him send an email out each time he needs one sent- I can't see him asking for help on that

They gave an example of the malware/virus idea with the lists from Malaysia plane crash and how people were searching that and unknowingly downloading problems.

I live just 30 miles north of Houston in the woodlands, it showed that less than 80% used the site. There is a small one horse town just north of us and they had more than 85% usage. I know that the outage of names and email address were devastating to many families but this is the equivalent to a car wreak on the freeway, no one wants it to be them but can't help but slow down and rubber neck.

I'm sure there are a LOT of shocked spouses. This... The three guys I know are cheating are in marriages that everyone looks at and admires... Together for decades, great relationships with their kids, individually successful in their careers, blah blah blah... The husbands love their wives, families, and have nothing bad to say about their wives... They have two lives, compartmentalize... They would fight to the death for their wives/families, and in another compartment are their other relationships... Makes me wonder if ignorance is bliss...
