Ugh, Blake? She looked like she was wearing an eggplant.

I could not believe it either! The stitching was puckering out all over. I don't see how it met the spirit of the challenge. It was two pieces of non-matching fabric thrown together.

I personally don't care about sewing, I don't want to watch "Project Seamtress" I want to watch a design competition, to me their fabric choices and what they do with it are the most important things, an outfit can made flawlessly and still be ugly or matronly. I think they need to sew well enough to get their outfit made and their ideas across, because it's not like if they are successful they will have to hand sew every one of their garments...other people will be there to do that.
However I wish the judges were consistent about it, sometimes the pick up on every minor flaw, like a slightly crooked hem or a puckered zip on an otherwise great dress, and then at other times they completely overlook sewing skills and rave about a dress that has obvious sewing flaws. I think they need to make a rule one way or the other - instead they just change their minds about what is important on an individual basis, which doesn't seem fair to me.

But it is so widely known about this show being partly Project Seamstress that they should have basic sewing and patterning skills. This isn't project design and get someone else to pattern and sew it for you either. And Blake's dress had as many raw edges as Gabrielle's. She was a mess and frazzled and that didn't help her. The Librarian's was perfectly sewn, it was just ugly on the runway. I have to say in the workroom it didn't look as bad. Shame she didn't just take off the lace part and belt up the coat as a dress.

While they can be inconsistent, they tend to overlook construction screw-ups if they think the design/concept is good. Or innovative. That's what I think happened w/Idiot-Who's-So-Deluded-He-Thinks-He's-The-Next-Christian-Siriano. He did have an interesting design. It's nothing a normal woman would wear, but he produced something new & different. Gabrielle's jacket was cute, but that dress was simply a disaster. She needed to go. Really thought Candace was going to take the win this week, but I'm betting she'll stick around longer than Blake. Ashley too. And I agree - Amanda's next. Unless she comes up w/something completely amazing and wins next week, they'll be looking to get rid of her. She's really not cutting it.

Amanda or Lindsey next. Lindsey is completely stuck in the 80's even in her personal style. I know things get reinvented but not so literally. That outfit just needed a bad perm and hat.
I wouldn't be sad to see Amanda, Lindsey, Jake or Joseph go. - Amanda and Lindsey may get saved to keep the drama going.

Wtf? Why did the little boy who can't read a clock win? Hee! Thanks for the laugh. I liked Laurie's, Ashley's, and Edmund's designs. I normally like Swapnil, but not this week. And I'm really tiring of the styling trend with the low ponytail-or-sloppy-bun with all the lank, intentionally escaped hair hanging down in front. Housecleaning chic.

I'm wondering if Amanda is going to be the redemption chick? You know, in the bottom for three weeks and then BOOM, she finds her stride and ends up in the finale? I say this because of her confessional where she said she tried out and got sent home before the show started. They showed that little tidbit for a reason. Sort of the same story arc as Amanda Valentine in a way or even Kate Panotoke. (SP)
I would be okay with her, Lindsay, Joseph, Jake, and Blake gone in any order. They are miles below everyone else.
As far as the sewing thing, I was thinking about Anya, Season 9 winner. She couldn't even sew at all!!!

Candace, Ashley and Swampnil are far and above the other contestants. I love Lindsey but I felt that look was straight out of 1985 and there was no innovation at all and I don't think Amanda is as bad as they make her out to be. The sequin jersey dress was worse. Blake's was horrid, I thought for sure he would be in the bottom with those mismatched fabrics and poor construction.
When the episode started and they kept featuring Gabrielle, I turned to my stepdaughter and said, "who's that? I have never seen her before?". The dress, if you could even call it that, was an embarrassment. The jacket was pretty, if only she had just done something else underneath I think she would have been safe.
It was also a joke to have Kiernan Shipka be a guest judge. What does a 15 year old know to put her in a position to judge adults on their work?

Funny, because I thought Kiernan gave really good critiques. She may be just a kid, but she was very good at it. I thought she was a good choice.

I know right? She's the one I always thought never should have gotten to the final, never mind winning. They robbed Josh and Viktor blind that season.
