I am considering joining but I have some questions that I can't find addressed on the website.
If you find you want additional items to go with the current kit, how does shipping work? Since you can't see it beforehand, do you have to pay seperate shipping or can it be shipped with your next order? I'm assuming seperate shipping, but am hoping I just missed something. I love their cardstock so I cn see myself wanting more of that easily!
When you purchase past kits do you pay retail, or do you get membership price?
Any thoughts about the club in particular? Things you like, things you don't? How is their customer service?
I'm almost certain I would select the embellishment pack. What do you subscribe to?

I can't speak to what they do now, but I was a member a long time ago when they first started up. I think I had it for a year (two six month subs) before I gave it up because the style of their kits didn't mesh with my style of scrapping. I kept waiting for them to send me something I would like and they just never did. I like bright colors like Doodlebug or cute designs like Simple Stories and their style was nothing like that. I also thought their color schemes were kind of odd, but that's because the stuff really just wasn't my style. The quality of their products seemed to be pretty decent, I just never used any of it and recently got rid of a bunch at a friend's scrapping garage sale.

I don't subscribe, but there's a girl in my local meet up scrapping group that does. If you don't get the answers to your questions, tag me and I'll ask her.

When I was a member long ago ( had to resign when I divorced). I had the option to have an order shipped immediately ( and at shiing) or have it included in the next kit. Members do gets better price on merchandise. Loved the paper, but some was too pretty to use!!!

Thank you for the responses ladies, it was late so I assumed there wouldn't be any until morning. I love the quality of their cardstock, and I agree scrapaddie, some IS too pretty to use! I really like the colors and the embellishments they include, especially the border/quote cut apart pages. Their pages designs seem to be very simple and structured and I love that! I just wish all of the printed cardstock wasn't as theme-y as it usually is. I don't mind a theme in collection kits, as there is usually enough that isn't that I can still get great use out of the kit and feel my money was well spent. If they regularly included striped, dotted paper and the like I'd sign up so fast my head would spin! Or, if you had to get so many a year but could turn down the ones you didn't want before they were shipped out. crazy4scraps, I love Simple Stories as well. Have a few collections of DBD and really like them. But I don't have children and the designs are often too chipper for my not so chipper personality and activities I did just order a megakot from scrapbook.steals with bright colors, perfect for my adorable baby nephew! And bonus, it has a lot of items that the peas are getting at Tuesday Morning right now so I can see them before I make a trip into town. Thank you for the offer alissa103 I will certainly take you up on that!

Loved that the papers are a nice weight, but I mostly scrap with patterned papers. I still have some of their County Fair papers!

I LOVE Club Scrap! I got my first kit in 2000 and have been a member since then, for the most part although I might have stopped off and on for a few months here and there. I absolutely adore everything about this club and have learned so much about scrapping since signing up with them. I'll try to answer your questions first. They offer many additional items with their kits.
First of all there are 3 different versions of the kits. 1. What's called the deluxe kit and is the biggest kit. It's shipped out on the 1st of the month. Along with this get you get to choose 1 out of 3 different options to add to it-an unmounted rubber stamp sheet, an embellishment kit or the card kit. 2. The lite kit, it's a smaller version of the deluxe kit and makes fewer pages. 3. The stamp kit, it's shipped later in the month. 4. Oops forget this one, it's a card kit.
There are lots of additional things you can get added to your kits. Some of these are-hpops, (half pounds of paper) these are small pieces of paper in the colors of the kit (the same cardstock, the rubber stamp sheets which are truly amazing-Club Scrap has in my opinion some of the best rubber stamps around and they teach you how to prepare and use these wonderful stamps, fibers and ribbons, and some other incredible things. You sign up to get it added on to your kit before it gets shipped on shipping day, so you might want to wait to do this once you've started in the club and know this is what you want to do.
With each Club Scrap kit Tricia who is the owner of Club Scrap takes the kit and breaks it down designing it to use every little piece as possible and we are given design pages that show us cutting designs and illustrations so that we can see how each kit can be used so that only a tiny piece remains. You can follow these designs exactly, or make them all your own, or not use them at all. Your choice. But the chance is there to use them to make quick use of scrapping materials. And yes, this is making pages first and then adding photos later, but it works incredibly well. While some kit themes and designs haven't been my favourite Tricia has always stressed don't go by the designs let the colors guide you. There is a big gallery at their web site and they offer a ton of video lessons and a blog of ideas to help. Club Scrap also offers a truly amazing Retreat once a year filled with 4 days of pampering and AMAZING classes! I went 4 times and we even had Tim Hotlz right before he became a huge nationwide success story.
Tricia, Karen, Kay and so many of the Club Scrap team has worked together for years and talk about customer service! They bend over backward to make sure their customers are happy! This month's theme was "Woven Threads" and it turned out to be a beautiful Celtic theme but generic enough that it could be used for anything. It was just beautiful. Next month is "Transformations" and so far the spoiler looks really beautiful. It is in tones of turquoise and green. You can read on the blog on their website and see the spoiler there.

PS. I forgot to add what sets Club Scrap apart from other clubs is that they design and manufacture everything themselves. They don't gather supplies from other manufactures and put it together in a box. Also to me they are a style that is totally different from other clubs because of this. And it truly shows! I love their style. Look through a few of their kits before you decide.

Thank you birukitty, that's a lot of information! I have checked out tons of their kits, and I can see myself using the embellishment kit the most. Also looked at the blog and do like the upcoming kit. It is one where I feel I could pretty easily hide some of the elements I don't care for as much, like the fishing pole. A border strip covering a good bit of it and walla. I don't think I would know if I wanted additional items, like a stamp sheet, until I saw them. In that case, how are they shipped? Separately or with next month's kit? If you see the spoiler and decide you don't care for it, do you know of anyway to cancel that kit before it is shipped? I was introduced to them at a GASC class around 2003 I think. The papers and layouts from that class are still some of my favorite ever! And I have a lot of old items in my cart that I would love to buy, but don't think I would pull the trigger at $57. At $34 I could be happy to pull the trigger on half a dozen or so deluxe kits. Their stamps do look beautiful, and I can see myself using almost half of them.

That way you know what the kit will look like because it comes out on the 1st (the deluxe kit) and we (if you sign up for the lite kit) don't get ours until the 15th. As a member of the lite kit you can add on to your lite kit anything you want before it ships on the 15th (additional paper to make more pages, the embellishment pack (and yes as a member of the deluxe kit that was always the choice of the 3 I chose) and so on. Or you can take your chances and sign up for the deluxe kit and choose the embellishment kit as your choice of the three. You will have an idea of what you are getting because of the preview they post on the blog. If you really hate it from what I remember you do have the choice of sending it back (but you pay postage) for a refund. I know that in the past if we hated the preview we had the option of skipping that month, but due to their budget and some changes we can't do that anymore. What we as members can do is quit our membership if we absolutely hate the kit preview, skip that month, and then sign up again the following month or whenever we wish. I have done that quite a few times. I did that for the first 14 years. It really is the best value and the best way to see if you like Club Scrap. Out of the deluxe kit you get 14 pages of layouts. I too, don't use every single thing in a kit. I don't personally like bulky embellishments like metal or wood so I don't use those. I just substitute something else. I LOVE their stamps and they have a great forum and a video and supplies in their store to teach you and show you how to prepare those stamps for use. They are just flat rubber which is a huge savings. You cut them out, slap some of their amazing glue on the back, let it dry and then put them on the back of clear blocks just like clear stamps. Tricia has a video that shows you step by step how to do this. You can buy the stamp sheets separately (once you enter the store you'll see them) put them in your cart and then you can ship anything with your next kit for just $2.00! Or you can decide to automatically add 1, 2, 3 or all 4 (can't remember if they have 3 now or still 4 different stamp sheets per kit to each kit per month. I just buy them separately when I can afford them thanks to that great shipping cost of $2.00. Once you sign up as a member you get the member pricing once your first kit ships, so the cost of your kits drops down to $34.00 not the $57.00 that you see on the website for the deluxe kits. Let me know if you have any more questions. I'm more than happy to answer them! Debbie in MD.

I might have, although they have two retreats every year. Does your friend go to the August one, or the one in October? I've always been to the one in October-but the last one I went to was in 2005 I think, although it might have been 2006. It's been quite a while. I would really, really love to go again. I belonged in 2002 and 2003 and sill have a few papers and or stamps from Tye-Dye and Hot Mocha Java. I never could get the hang of how to use their unique style at the time. I could probably use it now that my kids are teenagers. You make me want to look into it again. I would have loved to have their Idea Decks!

birukitty Awesome detail, thank you! I really like the idea of doing the lite kit and adding things if I like them plus canceling for months I know I won't want. The only question I have remaining is will the kit price of $34 apply to older kits as well?

I could probably use it now that my kids are teenagers. You make me want to look into it again. I would have loved to have their Idea Decks! They are still selling one of their idea decks at this time. I think they are on version 4 by now. As I said each kit comes with a cutting instruction and you can see it on their website. It is there for all to see, you don't have to be a member or get the kits to see it. Just look under their website under "instruction". Like I said I like to use it as a guide because it helps you use each kit to the fullest. They started this in 2007 and they call it ASLB or "Assembly Line Scrapbooking". It isn't at all dull like it sounds, but it helps you scrap fast if that is what you want. With a deluxe kit, the one that comes out at the first of the month and is $34 dollars or so, you are able to make 14 layouts. You do make them without photos, and believe me I went into this kicking and screaming thinking there is no way I'd like it, but I'm now a convert. It works, and it works very well! I do vary them to my taste, switching them around-I don't like using metal or word, like I mentioned and I don't happen to like small photos like 3x3 or smaller, but a lot of folks do. Debbie in MD.

You can shop in their online store at any time and then have them ship whatever you order with your next kit and just put on your order that you'd like it sent with your next kit (there will be a space for that) and it'll be just $2.00 for the shipping.. By the way if you sign up due to this thread and if anyone else here decides to sign up would you mind giving Club Scrap my name? I get a little something if you do, so I'd really appreciate it. My name is Debbie Handley. Thanks so much! Let me know if you have any more questions Dewryce. Debbie in MD.

I used to be, but stopped a long time ago. I like to much cutsie stuff. That's the reason I like them-I hate cutsie stuff and stuff that looks the same everywhere you look. I was looking for something with a more sophisticated, grownup look for my travel albums and once I looked at Club Scrap I was hooked. I have learned so much about scrapping and stamping from them. Isn't it great that there is something for us all out there no matter what we like? Debbie in MD.

The only question I have remaining is will the kit price of $34 apply to older kits as well? Dewryce-One last thing I forgot to mention. Today is the first of the month, and that means it is time to check out the blog on the Club Scrap site. Here you will find all of the info on the new kit along with a hint and a title about what next month's kit will be. You'll be able to head over to Instructions to see what all of the ASLB pages will look like from the Deluxe kit, and you'll be able to head over to the Club Scrap shop and see what everything in the kit looks like that's available so far-the Deluxe kit, and all of the stamp sheets. You won't be able to see the Lite kit yet, because that doesn't come out until the 15th, but this will give you a very good idea of what the Lite kit will look like. Have fun! Debbie in MD.
