It never fails to amaze me that it is ALWAYS the same people that continue to complain about things, yet when called upon to come up with a suggestion, shut right up.
"I didn't know about xyz going on in town, you didn't advertise well enough." Really? This is something that happens every year, is on facebook, the town website, and numerous other places around town including the bulletin board sign outside the town area that everyone passes through at least once a week, flyers sent home with your child, a booklet sent out to every town resident, plus is available online as a pdf, so how is it that you don't have access to this information? Phone down? Nope. Facebook down? Nope clearly not because we are seeing you bitch yet once again about this. We ask what else can we do that wasn't done well enough in addition to all these things and you say nothing. Bitch about stuff we don't do but don't offer to help out and in fact insist they will never be part of our organization to help out because they don't like the fact that we aren't able to do new things.
I so want to call this person up and say WHAT THE HECK IS YOUR PROBLEM?!

Isn't that always the way it is? I'm president of our Library Friends organization. We have people who go to the library director to complain about what we do and how we aren't doing our fall fund raiser right and why aren't we doing more? You know how many of them actually show up to help? Zero. That's how many.
Shut up or put up.

I work in our county courthouse and am amazed at the number of clueless people we seem to have. Even those I work with don't seem to bother checking our town website or even subscribe to our weekly newspaper. I check the town website several times a week at least, sometimes more often.

I'm in marketing and sometimes you just have to resign to the fact that no matter what you do, there will always be a group that misses every single thing you put out there. It is frustrating because there are so many avenues to market events these days but it also means there are many avenues that people can ignore/miss. Sometimes it feels like the planets and stars and moons have to align to get people to see anything. Frustrating but what can you do?

I feel your pain. If they would spend the same amount of time helping, or spreading the word for you, etc... that they do complaining. Imagine the impact.

I was in The Bay on Friday. This is the Bay at Yonge and Queen for those in the GTA. It's their flagship store. Friday marked the second day of the big Buskerfest that closed Yonge (one of the busiest streets in downtown Toronto) for the whole weekend (Thursday to Sunday). I was up in housewares and chatting with one of the sales ladies. Somehow we got onto the topic of FH and how he was working outside the building. She looked at me with shock when I told her that he was working Buskerfest (What's that?) and that it was outside (where?). Ummm... right outside your building. Closed the major road that your building is on.
Yeah... some people are just clueless. Especially the ones that complain but do nothing.

I had to laugh at the time a mother complained that she didn't know ANYTHING about the Cross Country team pasta meal. Her son also knew NOTHING about it. The coach and I got a big laugh because: 1) 3 flyers went home about it, 2) it was listed on our team website, 3) it was on the calendar in the XC team rules booklet that all athletes and parents had to sign and they both had signed, 4) it was posted on our Remind 101 system 2 times and they receive these updates, 5) her son had a conversation and a text message with my son about directions, and 6) the mother had previously signed up to donate paper plates!!!

You can have the rule that you are not allowed to complain about something unless you present a viable solution.

I had someone ask why they didn't know about a concert from a picture I posted from said concert. I kindly (pm) told her that there was a newsletter, Facebook posts etc...that were sent out. Oh, suddenly her Facebook didn't work. Ugh
