I started PL in 2010 and have continued. I have taken a single photo of my everyday life. I was wondering if I am the only one still using the straight journaling cards? I still scrapbook trips, vacations , holidays, etc in another album . I love looking back at the my PL and seeing my daily photos. Maybe I need to change it up in 2016 and use some of the quote cards.

I don't do a photo a day PL, but I am definitely more pro-journaling than filler cards. I actually purchased another core kit so I could have more journaling card options (in addition to not like the changes at Studio Calico, I was also finding myself not loving the lack journaling options within the card contents). If you like how you're doing it and it's working for you, why change it? Trends are always cyclical...right now filler cards and not much journaling is in style but I think story telling is making a comeback. So, unless you really, really want to use more filler cards, I say stick with what you like and what works.

I definitely prefer journaling over filler cards, and even the few fillers I use have some story telling component. If that makes me a dinosaur, then call me Blue.

I still do a picture a day! I prefer journaling over filler cards as well. I started writing over some of the designs on the filler cards. Or around the edge of the design.

I've been doing PL since 2010 and I don't do a photo a day or even a weekly approach. I do monthly spreads, but I still use core kits and I feel like I'm in the Dark Ages for sticking with that! I still do traditional LOs as well, so I get my embellishment fix that way and don't feel like I need to add a whole bunch of extras to decorate my cards. To me, the whole point of PL is to keep it simple and I don't want to complicate it.

I have more photos and memorabilia than anything. I do strictly chronological and stick to one 12x12 album per year.

This is my 4th year. I don't do a daily photo - I document by months. Some months have a ton of pages others only 2. It works for me. I am typically photo heavy though on my spreads & rarely use 'filler' cards. Any cards I use have journaling on them.

I have done PL since 2009. I don't do a daily photo anymore, but I do a weekly spread with a combination of photos, journaling and very few quote cards. I'm still happy with it. I use PL core kits and misc stuff I have on hand. It works for me. In Ali fashion, I do a lot of journaling right on my photos in Photoshop before printing. I keep it very simple.

I try to do a photo a day, but I have really slacked off this year. I'm thinking my 2015 album will be more of a hodge podge than a week by week. That being said, I definitely prefer the journaling cards to the quote cards. I have quite a few packs of the plain grid cards for when I have a lot to say and don't need the decorations taking up my precious writing space. Like saralovesducks, when I use the cutesy cards, they are almost always related to what's going on on the page. I still do traditional 12x12 scrapbooking. My PL is more about catching random shots of our daily life. Those pics almost never speak for themselves, so I do a lot of journaling. I'm a dinosaur, too!

I did a photo a day for 4 years (2010 - 2014), but took a break from it this year. I noticed that I did A LOT more 12x12 scrapping this year instead.
I will likely go back to it in 2016. I'm sorry I stopped, actually. This has been a year for the books, and I wish I had been more closely documenting it as I went along.

I still use the journaling cards! I don't do the photo-a-day approach, so I always want to tell a story with my pics Everyone has a system that works for them - go with it! It's an accomplishment just to get the pages done!

If you are doing a photo a day, that is impressive! Good for you. My question is: Is there such a thing as over-documenting? 20 years from now will it matter what you did/happened every single day? If so... keep doing what you are doing. If "snapshots" of your life is sufficient enough, maybe change it up a little and throw in a filler card or two. That's what I think .

I've switched over to the app, but my pages are more journal, more story than even pictures, very few fillers.

My personal story: i did pl when hen it was brand new 2009&10 I think. in 2012 I had a medical crisis and lost three years worth of memories. Those PL books are/were priceless for letting me see the everyday stuff that I had forgotten. Priceless. And that was only three years.

i have never managed a full year of pl. i don't know why but i can get through a few months and then i just stop. that said, i have done a december daily/journal your christmas album for eight years running. i have mini books of vacations and i just completed my first WITL album. i enjoy the pl style of scrapping but i think i do better with a fixed and shorter time period. i hope i don't regret it later.

apparently I suck at it, but I'm trying to use the PL pages incorporated into my regular scrapbooking.
I've done round 1 of purging cards and I will not ever buy another PL card kit unless they come up with some amazingly fantastical tropical/Hawaiian set ... I've got a 12x12 bag full of extra cards that I'm gifting to friends. Every single time I go to use them, it fails.
I DO like the Simple Stories card packs a lot more - not as many duplicate, triplicates etc. and brighter colors.
But yeah, gave up on PL ... photos are in my cell phone, but just not happening in the book. I think I have a boring life LOL
