Congratulations! It's a big step and probably a bit scary but I have confidence in you! My friend went back for her RN in her mid-40's and though she was the oldest one in there, she said that had advantages too. Your life experiences have taught you how to prioritize, manage time, etc. I'm so happy for you!!!

It will be great! Just consider the real world experience that you will bring to the classes.

It's good you got accepted though, right? Right??? right......!! I think. Of course it is and you know it is! Forget the 5 minutes of almost 'buyer's remorse' and sit back for the next step! After this, you'll probably go onto study the grand mastership of PhDism anyway because, seriously, I think you will just go on and on with the studying!! Enjoy and embrace!!

Of course you are! Congrats! I've been saying for 20 years I should go to law school. Now I don't have enough brain cells left to manage it. Do it now while you're still young and smart, relatively speaking. Do it! At 55 I'm not feeling all that young! My classmates are possibly going to be younger than my kids! I'm taking classes right now. They are prereq's for a licensing program I will be applying for in January. I'm the oldest one in the class. Luckily, at 42 I still look 35ish so I don't stand out too much, but I better keep on top of the hair dye or my cover is blown.

My husband attended night classes at NC State and got his MBA. He said it was a split between students his age (40s) and students in their mid 20's. You can do it!!

Congratulations! Now go for it! If you start and really find out it's not for you, well you can always quit right? But you'll never know what you can do unless you start. You might find out that you really enjoy it.

Do it now while you're still young and smart, relatively speaking. I've said the same thing! Not about law school, but I really am interested in library science. But holy smokes, I have lost my ability to retain information at an alarming rate and am kicking myself for not doing 20 years ago when I was smarter. voltagain Congratulations! I am proud of you for going through with it. I am too scared to even take the GRE.

I found my masters program, in education, to be much easier than my BS in zoology! That was a fast acceptance, it took me a couple months to get my acceptance.

I enjoyed my graduate degrees SO much more than undergrad. You're finally studying exactly what you want to be studying, and there are very few classes that are equivalent to the "general ed" requirements from undergrad. Also if you do it as an "older" student, i.e., not straight out of undergrad you have so much more perspective on things and generally more maturity. Not always of course, but life experience does count for a lot. Congratulations!

It will be an M.Ed. The program is designed for people wanting to work in student services at universities; directors for admissions, housing, conduct officers... those sorts of things. I've been working in a admissions office for the past 8 years. I like it and it is a career path I want to stay on so this is the next logical step. Congratulations on being accepted into graduate school!! Three to five years seems like a long time keep at it because working in student services at a university is awesome. I have worked in two areas in 32 years, and I love having a small part in young people achieving their dreams.

In 5 years time, when you tell us about your graduation, we will be reminding you of this post, and you won't believe how quickly the time will have passed! Congratulations, you can do it. Or as we say here in the West of Scotland: gaun yirsel' hen!
