I wonder why she has to pay...the article says his worth is only (lol) 5 million less than hers. Surely he can afford half custody of their only child on his own.
Seriously though, it must be hard going through a divorce. For everyone involved. It's good they can do joint custody.

I'm not dawging on her or her husband (ex-husband, I guess). I'm just often shocked when I see financial numbers from celebrities. It just flabbergasts me, really. It's just so. much. money. that we, as a society, contribute to people for simply entertaining us. (Not just Giada, but any celebrity/athlete). I'm just as guilty of doing it, so I'm not placing blame. I guess I just wish we (general we, including myself!) didn't throw money around like we do. |

That IS a lot of money. But if she say grosses $300,000 a year, it is a little more than a 1/3 of her pay. It seems like she would make even more than that between her shows, books, products and restaurant she owns.

I have never been divorced, but my parents were and I have friends that are. It is a formula that each state has. And I think, though others might know different, they stick to the formula. So it doesn't matter she is rich and famous, the state uses the formula.

I would guess the child must be kept on the manner they're used to... So if the child has access to 9k worth of stuff for half the week, she should have access to it for the other half...
Each parent will pay half her school, sports, etc... It's just that the father gets some of that money from his work and some from child support...
There was no prenup so he's getting half of everything - her publishing deals are huge... And he gets half of the advances for stuff she's already signed for because those contracts were signed when they were still married... He'll get a lump sum, no alimony, and the child will have her costs covered proportionally by both parents...

I assume he has primary responsibility for paying school tuition, nanny, extra curricular activities, etc., and Giada's child support payment to him is to cover her portion of those expenses.

I'm sure she NETS more than $300k a year.
I believe she has a restaurant in Vegas, she has cookware at Target (at least she used to), the TV shows, cookbooks, appearance fees, etc. She has a pretty great revenue stream from all that so I'm sure $9k a month is nothing in the grand scheme of things. I haven't read any articles about her but if she has family money, she probably had a pre-nup too.

I got $600 a month in child support, and it was more than enough to support my dd. I could have stayed home, and had a housekeeper and nicely remodeled house for $9K a month. The thing that's going to be rough for that dad is when the kid is 18 and he suddenly gets a $9k/mo pay cut. I had some adjusting to do when I stopped getting the 600...I can't even fathom a 9K paycut!

(as for Giada, I also think her head looks too big for her neck, and she irritates me in general... but I also believe she probably is worth a LOT more than netting or grossing $300,000 per year.)

My husband loves her. I don't know that he's ever seen her on TV without mentioning that she's hot. Back when the Food Network wasn't all those stupid reality contest shows, I watched her show a lot. I could see her and Bobby together.

She irritates me too. My dd and I keep a running total of how many times she says "There we go" during her cooking show. It's usually around 10 lol.
