I need to go through all of them on the iPad and get them printed so I can scrap them. I called the store we use for photo finishing and she said I could transfer from iPad to their computer IF they weren't all in albums. BIL and my dad put all the photos into different albums. All the photos are also on the desktop computer. There are some recent ones on his iPhone from today but that's it. Do I get a flash drive and copy the photos I want to print that way? We are a Mac family now.
I know nothing about photography and photo storage. I had an external hard disk drive and it was defective. My pictures transferred to it and it started to smoke. I had to return the drive to the store. That was easy but then all my photos were on the drive and my computer started to fail and died shortly after that. So the disk drive and the computer is dead.
Then here's another situation: I have 2 laptops in my basement and they are dead. I think it is the a/c adapter which plus into the computer is shot. One might have been the battery and I just didn't replace it as the computer was 3 years old and technology had changed. Can I get the photos off those computers? (They are HP laptops)

I'm having some of the same issues and none of the answers. Assuming the problem isn't the hard drive I would think they should be able to take It out of your dead laptops and retrieve the data for you that way. Good luck!

So forgive me for the obvious, do I take my old laptops to the computer store on the corner and ask them to take the photos and software off them? I have some amazing actions for photoshop elements on one of the computers.

If you take the computers in, then they should be able to download the photos onto an external hard drive for you. Depending upon the computer store the charges vary. They will also tell you that there is no guarantee they can get them. Good luck.

I'm regards to printing can't you just up load online and pick up at the store? Most places do this: Costco, Target, Walmart, Walgreens, etc.

Any computer store should be able to take off any files from your dead drives and computers and transfer them to an external hard drive. We've done it before when my laptop suddenly crashed and couldn't be started again.
For printing photos from an iPad, I'd probably download an app from some sort of photo printing store and upload to the store via the app. I don't think iPads can take USBs to transfer directly. You can plug your iPad into a computer and transfer to the computer that way, but I find navigating iTunes or windows explorer to find photos to be extremely cumbersome.

That's a lot of pictures- have you made sure all the pictures are "print" worthy and that there are not any duplicates? we tend to take 3 or 4 pictures of scenery and I only print 1 since that's all takes to tell the story ( in my mind anyway)

Upload everything I want online, hit send and then pick up the next day...and the price difference. That too I need to think about! Drug store (granted they do a great job) is about $.40 a print and Costco is what $.06-.08? I do manage in life. I really do! cannel, if you're free tomorrow, I could use some help picking what to wear for work...LOLOL

I think they give you the sale price for bulk orders, over 500 maybe.
