I have to take mac and cheese to an all day volleyball tournament Saturday. Does anyone have a tried and true recipe?

THe famous blue box. Make it on the stove top and put in the crockpot to keep warm. I have found the homemade mac& cheese I like isn't always well liked by others, particularly kids.

I would probably make it like I would to bake and then put it in the crock pot to finish.

I use the big Stouffer's pans in the freezer section when I'm cooking for a crowd. I let it thaw in the refrigerator and it takes about 3-4 hours to get hot on the low setting. It has enough sauce to keep it creamy after it's been in the crock pot for a while, it's cheaper than making it myself, and it's gone in minutes. I'll make homemade mac and cheese for my family, but potlucks get Stouffer's. KISS--keep it super simple!

I tried one of those non precooked noodles recipes and it was disguising and expensive. Next time I'm going with your idea. The recipe i had used cream cheese but it basically was the wrong texture and super bland. I will never make another recipe recommend by fil again. ...i think he was just searching recipes and passed it off like they had enjoyed it. I hate wasting food so i ate it but i seriously contemplated tossing it.

As always, the Peas come up with a great solution.

The large family size pans (serves 12?)--one pan in a 2 qt crock pot, two pans in a 4 qt crock pot. You can fit a bit more in the 4 qt pot--sometimes I'll buy a 3rd tray, fit in what I can, then put the rest in the fridge for my family. I've bought the Stouffer brand and the Safeway brand. Both are good. I usually shop at the commissary, but I'd say a pan will cost about $10. I get them at the comm for $8, so they may go on sale for that at a regular grocery store.
