How safe is the area around the arena? Dh and I are looking at going to a game there and are looking at hotels. One is close, within a mile, and nice, but about $200 per night. There is another one about 2.5 miles away and $100 cheaper. We are not sure we are renting a car and may walk to the game.
Would that be doable?

Besides the Renaissance (I assume that's the $200 one), there's a Hampton, a Residence Inn and a Holiday Inn Express all pretty close. Any of those I would be okay walking to/from. Is one of those the one you're looking into?

It's very safe. Not too much around there other than west gate but definitely not a bad part of town.

My brother has a townhome right there in Westgate and we walk to games/restaurants all the time. Very safe.

The Hampton Inn is one as well as a holiday Inn express and comfort inn
