In the event you are ever given a Holter Monitor please please please do not douse yourself in your favorite baby powder perfume the days you are wearing it!!! Clearly they don't wash the straps that hold the recording device after every use (or maybe they do and this crap is just really potent), but I've been gagging all damn day over this smell! And I'm usually not very affected by smells!!! There is no escape for another 36 hrs!!!

hummmmm. Mine didn't have any straps. The leads were new out of a package and the monitor part had a large clip that went on a waist band. I just clipped it to the waist band of my skirt.

I would love to have a belt clip. Mine came with a fabric purse strap type thing. I wear it diagonally across my torso. It stinks! The wires were all new out of the package though.

Is there a way to take the strap off and put a substitute strap on? I'd be annoyed to smell like someone else's perfume for 3 days.

I had the same issue with a home sleep study kit earlier this year - the chest strap absolutely reeked! I mentioned it after the test and was told it was due to a cleaning solution, but it honestly smelled like strong flowery perfume. It made me sneeze, my eyes watered and I had trouble falling asleep. At least I only had to wear it at night for 3 days; having to wear it all day long would have been unbearable.

Not sure if I have any old purse straps to switch it with though. I'll have to dig around in my closet! Thanks for the idea!

You should see the Holter monitor my dog gets. It's completely covers his torso..... I am glad to hear the ones for humans are not quite so complete.

hmm I've done both. The belt and the neck . I've never had issues. I will remember that for next time. I get them every so often if something wierd comes up from my pacemaker checks.

I've only had the belt kind. Find a ribbon, a belt, dental floss...anything!
If you have sensitive skin, watch for the patches to cause a reaction. The last time I wore one, I wore it for a month. I switched out for the patches for ones made for sensitive skin, but I still looked like an octopus attacked me with red circles everywhere. I did appreciate being able to move around and not be attached to a machine, though. I swear I spent half my pregnancies strapped to one machine or another. Technology has come a long way!
