So what did everyone think of last night's episode?
I knew from the start that Lindsay's heart wouldn't be in it. She didn't even want to get the stuff out of the dumpster (I can understand she has a phobia) so I'd imagine she wasn't really looking forward to any of it.
I am glad the judges are catching on to Swapnil's cavalier attitude. For him to even admit to Candice that he only creates to stay safe was a big mistake I think. Look how she turned on Ashley, he'd better hope he's never paired with her. I really disliked his look this week. I agreed with Zac in that this was Swapnil's challenge to shine. He brushed it off and was lazy. I'm glad he was safe but hoping being in the bottom opened his eyes.
I wasn't as keen on Edmond's outfit as the judges were. I like it but it wasn't "all that" to me. I thought it was too low in the front and he could have been neater.
I LOOOVED Ashley's dress. So cute. I was wondering if those chemicals in the photos were safe to expose though? We were always told not to break those polaroids as kids as the chemicals were caustic. Maybe over the time they were in the dump, they weren't? That said, her dress was so cute and lovely.
Kelly's was okay to ME. Wasn't in love with the design of the dress but she really rocked the material.
I was crying for Jake. Poor guy. I was waiting for Tim to tell him that he could come back and he'd use the save but I guess Tim is waiting for a front runner to get voted out. I'm expecting him to use it on Swapnil or Candice. That's my bet.
Anyway, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I totally thought that some really dropped the ball for creativity. I'm hoping the do an avant garde challenge though, I love those!!!
I didn't see the preview for next week...can someone fill me in?

Somehow I don't think this was actually a "dumpster dive" in the true tradition, as a set up. they probaly had some old warehouse with all this stuff laying around and threw it in a dumpster. KWIM? Otherwise there is now way there would have been all this electrical stuff.
LOVED!! Ashely's dress.

I think it was a very sanitized dumpster dive as well.
I thought the top three looks were all wonderful, but I thought Ashley's dress was the most creative.
I was surprised Laurie was safe. I would have liked to have a better look at her dress, but it looked pretty awful (at least to me) coming down the runway.
If anyone but Swapnil had designed that mess of a dress he made, they would have gone home.
I think Tim will use his save at the beginning of the next episode to bring back Jake.

Yeah, Swampnil was disappointing this week. I've always liked him--both as a person and a designer. He shone in neither respect this week. If he only loved designing as much as smoking, he might have really made something cool. The worst part was, I thought his sculptural idea with the wire coating and the skirt with the wire innards sounded intriguing. Then he just sort of stopped. I too love Ashley's dress but I loved Kelly's too. She deserved the win. I would have been happier if either had taken it, but I didn't want it going to Edmond. I thought the ladies did a better job. Unfortunately, PR has been cutting off at the end for me lately. I didn't get to see Jake's goodbye or next week's challenge. Don't you think that they will bring someone back who has been eliminated? Usually when someone leaves unexpectedly AND they still eliminate someone that week, someone else gets to come back. I just checked out the preview for next week on the website. It looks like Matthew Morrison (or whatever the teacher's name from Glee is) shows up and takes them to the theatrical set for Finding Neverland. I'm not sure if they are designing a costume inspired by the show or just some haute couture look, but I'm seeing gowns and dresses. Should be a good one! Let's hope they get to go to Mood rather than sort through some scraps in the costume department backstage for their looks.

Thanks Jackie!!! I love costume design episodes. Have we had one since All Stars 1? Maybe they have to design a dress for the opening? Either way, hoping it's a good one.
I called it "Dumpster Dive" because that's what Tim said the challenge was. I too, think it was all staged

Oh, I forgot the two guys' names. I did know that guy (who I now know is Jake left at the beginning because of his dog. I missed seeing the guy who was eliminated saying goodbye--again sadly forgetting the name; is it Joe?

I think that Swapnil is hugely talented, but he can be pretty arrogant. He definitely screwed up on this one, and got to stay simply because he's clearly one of the best designers there and they didn't want to get rid of him. I was fine with Joseph going home, but would have been fine if Lindsay went, also. I really liked her initially, but she's just become a whiner. I liked Kelli's dress but I think Ashley should have won. But honestly, I think Ashley should have won almost every challenge. She is amazing. So sweet that Zac told her that it was time to stop doubting herself!

I was thinking the same thing! Also, good on Jake for being a human being and leaving a reality show to be there with his best friend. I am continually astonished at shows where life is happening and people choose to stay in a competition or show rather than go home and deal with emergency situations.

I am convinced that Mood either dropped their sponsorship or pulled WAY back on it.

As usual, I agree w/you all: it was Joseph's time to go, I hope Jake comes back, Kelly's dress was cool but Ashley should have won, Lindsay can go next week and the judges totally have Swapnil's number and will be gunning for him if he doesn't step it the hell up. I am convinced that Mood either dropped their sponsorship or pulled WAY back on it.
Right? I am hoping they get there for next week's challenge, but who knows. If it's a costume challenge, the fabric could come from anywhere. I miss Mood!

I think Swapnil threw in the towel because he is tired of these unconventional challenges and figures if he can't design real clothes why bother. Isn't he already an accomplished designer in India?
This has been the oddest season.
I'm sad to see Joseph go because I thought he was a genuinely nice human being, but he really wasn't up to the standard compared to the others. So I agreed with the decision.
And I would have put Candace's dress on the bottom before the bathroom dress. It was pretty ugly and overworked.

If that's true, I can't say I blame him. We're only a couple weeks in and they've had 2 unconventional challenges. Enough already! And while I'm ready for Lindsay to go (still have a bad taste in my mouth w/all those Mean Girls), I actually liked her dress. But what do I know . . .

I agree that Candace should have been the bottom. How many times have we seen that dress in an unconventional challenge that has wires/ropes as a material. I'm over it already.
Anyone else thinking that if Swapnil had made Lindsay's skirt that the judges would have been all over it as a clever idea?
I think Joseph was just on the struggle bus the whole time so I'm not too sorry he is gone. I feel sorry for Jake and admire him for being honest about his priorities, you don't get a 2nd chance to say goodbye.

I would have been happy if Joseph or Lindsay went home. neither one has the wow factor. I thought Ashley's dress was awesome. Swapnil better step it up. His heart does not seem to be in it. I don't know if they'll bring Jake back. Poor guy. Candace's dress was hideous. I don't like her comments about others. I know they edit them to show drama but she's mean.

Was thinking the same. Every confessional she has, she is always knocking down the others. Yes, edited to look that way, but she has to SAY it first. Call it jealousy or envy or whatever, but she *IS* mean. She reminds me of Kinley from her season. I also don't believe they will bring Jake back. He chose to leave and other people that have left have not been brought back (or have they, I don't have a great memory of the earlier seasons) I really hope it's a costume challenge. I love those, well, when they actually design a costume I do. In past seasons, I always wonder why they don't go all out with costumes or avant garde. I would!!!

In past seasons where someone has left due to something other than being eliminated they have brought back the last eliminated contestant. So If they bring anyone back, it will most likely be Blake. Or as someone else already mentioned, if Jake is feeling Ok enough to come back, Tim could use his save.
I actually thought they wouldn't send anyone home because Jake left...but I was wrong on that.
I wasn't at all surprised when Lindsay said she was a germaphobe, I just said "of course you are" out loud to the TV. Swapnil was just being an arrogant shit...made me wonder if he's always been like this and they haven't shown it, or whether he's been keeping it hidden until now.

I believe there is s lot of manufactured drama on this show, with the producers encouraging the designers to say certain things a certain way. Look at how awful Blake was made to look in the first few shows. Then they changed the way they were portraying him, and he seemed like much more of a decent person.
I wouldn't doubt at all that Swapnil was encouraged to behave this way just to create some dramatic effect for the show.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Merline's horrific mess of a garment. I don't care if you do have immunity, you still try to create a winning look. Look at this monstrosity. There are wires hanging everywhere and the back doesn't even close. I cannot believe they didn't call her out on this mess. what the what???

Ashley was called out on the Hallmark challenge and told she was lucky she had immunity. I don't think Ashley's Hallmark look was even close to as bad as this horrible thing! I can't believe they either didn't say anything or didn't feel it was important enough and edited the comments out.

My prediction is that since next week is a challenge to make something for a show, the fabric will be provided by someone other than mood.

AND we still have the design your own fabric challenge.
It really is to the point where any of us could go on with predesigned pieces as the challenges are pretty standard.

I think Tim will use his save at the beginning of the next episode to bring back Jake. I wonder about this because I believe in the past when someone left they did not eliminate anyone. But this time they did, so they are now ahead one week on eliminations. I wish they would go back to "regular" designing with conventional materials.

AND we still have a Tim Gunn save week too. So they will probably skip a week to eliminate when everyone has a good/bad week.

Of the ones I remember leaving, one left because they disqualified him, one had health issues (I only remember seeing him the reunion show after that), and one left because she couldn't take it anymore (or was it a him?). I don't remember seeing any of them coming back in any way.

I love every look that Ashley creates. I think she should win. However, I did really love the winning look this week. I was sure Swapnil would be the one to go because they focused on him so much. I do think he is quite talented and hope he steps it up.

At this point I would be pissed off if the Tim Gunn save is for Swapnil. He IS talented but if he is going to play a game then he should suffer the consequences.
