Love rugby but being a northern lass it's rugby league, not union I watch. Vaguely similar but very different. I try watching rugby league at times but as you say, it's similar but very different - I always get confused about what is happening and why! My relatives have given up on me because they all watch League. Oh blimey, I prefer rugby league because I think it is so much easier to understand! Grab the ball and run with it to the opposition's goal line. Opponents tackle the guy with the ball. If one team gets tackled 6 times in a row before any of them kick the ball, then they have to hand it over to the opposition. Non-stop action. Unlike rugby with its mauls and rucks and other such carryings on. And so many stoppages when they all stand about doing nothing. And all the rule changes all the time. Still, I am taking an interest in the World Cup of course. I might get thrown out of kiwi-land if I didn't.

Because I have no idea, I just googled to find out who won the last World Cup - Bloody Kiwis!! Here are the results since it started: Australia, New Zealand and South Africa have each won it twice, and England has won it once. I think the Poms will win it this year to catch up, especially on home soil!

Eddie is an Aussie - coached the Wallabies to our sad loss in the 2003 final against England. He also coached my beloved Brumbies to their first Super Rugby title! I'm loving the tournament thus far. The Tonga v Georgia game was an unexpected cracker and the US put up a better fight against Samoa than I anticipated. I can't wait to see what happens when the Wallabies finally pull on their boots this week...

I have a small prediction to make: the Welsh will definitely win for best anthem I have drawn the English in our little pool and my husband has the All Blacks; we are both in with a chance, Phew.

I must be the only kiwi who does not care. I don't care if we come first or last. Our captain got sin binned for 10 minutes last night and it was the first item on out news. Not anyone dying but a rugby game /crazy! Most of the games are on in the middle of the night our time. People are having days off work to watch. No thank you!

I've said to DH that the mircophones seem to be a bit close to some of the players who are not blessed with the best singing voices! Events like this remind you how looong some of the anthems are. But I love the Haka, it could be twice as long.

Personally, I hate rugby and league......... I am SO not watching it at all. Unfortunately, I work in an office full of fans, and as they are real estate agents, they can come and go as they please...so up all night watching the games then waltz into the office to dissect the games....blah!

He stood in front of the Captain and sang his heart out......word perfect on all the verses.

Well another nail biter phew - well done Wales My husband is SO pleased! Well done indeed. ETA: came at a high cost, though- are there enough players to make up for all the injured?

ScrapsontheRocks I know the injury list is daunting and not a long recovery time - if I recall correctly Wales-v-Fiji this coming Thursday I bet your hubby was either holding his breath for the last few minutes or screaming at the tv like us. I've just watched the F1 live

It was a bruiser of a game. Well done Wales. No report yet on the extent of the injuries but they might have to field the ball boys at this rate. Both teams still have to play Australia, I don't envy them that. One of the BBC's articles on the match www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/34372428Loved that both Prince William (and Kate) and Prince Harry were there, William wearing a Welsh shirt and Harry wearing an England shirt.

wellway it was a real bruiser. It seems, according to local news that there's a concussion and a dislocated shoulder plus a knee injury!

JoP Thanks for the info, we did wonder if it was a dislocated shoulder or a badly pulled muscle, his reaction was immediate and painful to watch. It was a manic ten minutes at that point with lots of bodies on the ground.

What a great win for Wales both for the extra points but also for the rivalry between the two teams I would imagine. I've got a soft spot for Wales as my father was half Welsh. I was very impressed with Prince William taking his Vice Patronage position very seriously as well as being the future Prince of Wales. Bet there was some banter going on between him and Prince Harry afterwards. I hope that they'll be able to get over their injury setback though. I'm sure they will and there's no doubt that the passion will be there for the next game if nothing else. And the great singing!! Good luck for Thursday JoP

Being married to Englishman, I particularly enjoyed the Wales result yesterday! Now to hope my wobbly Wallabies get up over Uruguay tonight - preferably with a bonus point.

@gar - After the Ashes result in the cricket, I need to get my own back somehow! As I'm not sure the Wallabies are going to win their match against England, I became a temporary Welshman just so I could support the team playing England.
