IDK. I might be tempted to pick the woman depicted as part time because she might better understand my housing needs!

It would have been good if they had depicted a man on the left.

It would have been good if they had depicted a man on the left. That's what I was thinking. I get what they were trying to say...if they had used a picture of a man lying in a beach chair overlooking a pool the message would have gotten across.

Bottom line is that they are getting massive publicity. There is that old saying that all publicity is good publicity as long as they get the name right. They will get a ton of business from this, unfortunately. I think it was probably planned to get attention.

this was in their response, quoted in the HuffPo article: "We have the upmost respect for moms and working mothers..." In addition to not having a marketing person to ask about the wisdom of their advertising, apparently they don't have spell-check, either-- lol! eta: I find it funny that their real estate firm is named Costello and Costello-- maybe they meant it to be a joke!

At its core, the ad doesn't even make sense. On the back of the ad, they claim the working mom would only be available at HER convenience, not the customer's. If these guys have the number of clients most full-time realtors do, they're going to have plenty of scheduling conflicts. How inconvenient! I did like their apology, too, though. It sounded sincere, which is a lot more than you can say about most of those apologies. They mention their single working mother in their apology. Maybe she had a word with them... I thought the same. I imagine she ripped them a new one also.

I get what they were trying to say...if they had used a picture of a man lying in a beach chair overlooking a pool the message would have gotten across. I think it would have been a good ad if they had added a man on the left and a professional looking woman on the right. (Even if the professional looking woman was part of their office staff). I think they have a valid point. A lot of people do dabble in real estate and I can't imagine why anyone would want a part time real estate agent to sell their most valuable possession when they could have a full time professional. We've been thinking of downsizing and we've talked to several agents about listing our house. One real estate agent really impressed me until she mentioned that she took her daughter to out of town cheer competitions just about every weekend. I can't imagine hiring someone to sell my house who wasn't ever going to be available to show it on the weekends or host an open house. She probably has other people in her office who would have covered for her on the weekends, but I think it should be the listing agent who is hustling to make the sale in most cases.

Awful!
And I admit I read it as sexiest at first, too.
