Advertising is supposed to make people talk and be memorable.
But really?
((Sigh))

Oh God, you scared me. I have a friend who owns an agency in Seattle. Thankfully this isn't him! LOL

Dh is a realtor and would never stoop to putting down other realtors to promote himself ... totally unprofessional

Wow that's pretty bold. I wonder how long it will take for the backlash to hit.

The backlash has already hit... they are doing some pretty impressive backpedaling on it.
Amateur assholes they are.

The backlash is in full force. Yelp had to suspend their page and apparently their facebook and twitter pages are down as well. Total marketing fail.

Wow. What a bunch of assholes. Do they not have a marketing firm contracted with them that they could have run this by? Surely there was someone in the decision making process that thought "bad fucking idea!"

Do not fret; the local negative reaction has been swift and sure, although you cannot read the comments on articles unless you want to encounter a bunch of idiots saying that people will be offended by anything.

That's pretty horrible. Glad they're getting such backlash. Yikes.
As far as devaluing women, it reminded me of this Craigslist job title I saw: TASTING ROOM Sales Representative -AMBITIOUS/ SVELTE applicants ONLY!
I guess curvy women can't pour and be knowledgable about wine.

Damn. I misread the title at first and thought it said "Looking for the SEXIEST real estate agent in Seattle". . But yeah, that's really bad. I wonder if either of them ran it past any of the women in their lives first.

While the guys were idiots to run it to begin with, that's one of the best apologies I've seen from a company. There was no, "That wasn't our intent," or "we apologize IF we offended anyone" (two of the worst apology expressions ever and frequently overused). I like that they didn't pass the buck. They said "We failed. We take responsibility. We're sorry." I can respect that.

OMG, what foolish, foolish men.
I did like their apology, too, though. It sounded sincere, which is a lot more than you can say about most of those apologies.

I'm disappointed. I scanned the title and though it said 'the sexiest realtor'
I was looking for eye candy.

At its core, the ad doesn't even make sense. On the back of the ad, they claim the working mom would only be available at HER convenience, not the customer's. If these guys have the number of clients most full-time realtors do, they're going to have plenty of scheduling conflicts. How inconvenient! I did like their apology, too, though. It sounded sincere, which is a lot more than you can say about most of those apologies. They mention their single working mother in their apology. Maybe she had a word with them...

I just learned that the spelling sexist can be pronounced two different ways to have two different meanings. When I read your thread title I thought you were saying something else until I opened it up. lol

And I'm pretty sure they've leaned a very (possibly expensive) lesson!

IDK. I might be tempted to pick the woman depicted as part time because she might better understand my housing needs!

I've seen that ad; pretty sure it was in our small, wealthy community's quarterly glossy magazine. Not surprised it backfired on them.

But yeah, that's really bad. I wonder if either of them ran it past any of the women in their lives first. Or if that's their view of women, maybe the women in their lives saw it and just didn't warn them. Just let them find out what the rest of the world thinks of their opinions of the female half of the population.
