My 11 year old grandson has a hair appointment at 4:30 and the 13 year old has a football game at 4:30. I'm going to take the youngest to get his hair trimmed and try to catch the last half of the game. The 13 year old told me he'd make a touchdown for me Last week when I was gone he made two TDs and they won 12-0 That made them 0-3 It's so much fun to watch all my grandsons develop as competitive players in all their different sports and to see what confidence it gives them. When this one started playing basketball he stole the ball from another kid who started crying and he gave the ball back to him I picked up cream when I was in town this morning so I'm going to make my quick and easy standby shrimp fettuccine Alfredo for dinner after I get home. I may have a boy or two as drop in dinner quests I also picked up a quarter of a watermelon and will eat some of that for dessert. What are you having?

We had leftovers from yesterday - but with sliced roast beef, followed by fresh strawberries

Well, if we end up eating dinner at home we will have baked chicken and roasted veggies. But husband came home at lunch and said his best friend wanted to get together tonight and go to dinner so we may do that instead.

Tuna sandwiches and raw veggies for us tonight. My husband is off coaching the shooting team so I'm taking it easy. You know, just easing into the work week.

I soaked some white beans last night so I started some chicken chili. But it has gotten out of hand because I kept throwing stuff in it. So I have no idea what it is. Beans, chicken, diced tomatoes, corn

Sports does a lot for kids. And I love the basketball story. I just made a mock eclair dessert and put in the refrigerator for something sweet this week. My husband will take some to work each day for himself and his boss. It's a favorite for his boss and it never hurts to keep the boss happy, right? For dinner tonight, we're having meatloaf, smashed red potatoes, and sauteed squash.

Minestrone is bubbling away happily. I'm trying a new recipe mixed with my old, so I hope it turns out well. DH will like it no matter what.

Ds and I are having grilled cheese and fries and leftover b-day cake.
DD has school field hockey, goalie clinic and ice hockey practice all between 4 and 10 at 3 different locations so she got a packed dinner of salad with almonds, chicken and cranberries, hummus and pita, chocolate milk, banana muffin, clementine and her leftover b-day cake. Dh, her chauffeur is going to get something from Timmies during one of his waits for her.
Hope you see a TD tonight

Both kids had piano lessons today, so I made a quick and easy vegetable soup with beans and served it with some fresh bread and butter.

DS has Powderpuff Cheer practice tonight and will have to feed himself before he goes, so dh and I will have ham steaks and mac and cheese (blue box, because sometimes, you just have to!) - ds isn't a huge fan of ham steaks.

Once again, Pioneer Woman is on the menu. I'm making her chicken mozzarella pasta.
For dessert people can nibble on no-bake bars I made last night that one of my kids said tasted like a Snickers bar.

I've got chicken in the crockpot again today. I bought quite a bit the last time the grocery had a good sale on the frozen bagged stuff, and today I'm using the last of it up. I hope they have new sale pretty soon...I need to stock back up. Today's chicken has diced tomatoes and a Lipton soup packet added (savory herb or somesuch). I typically serve over pasta or rice. I don't really know what to call it, I found the recipe a while ago on facebook, but I've never been able to find the recipe again to see what it's really called, or where it came from.

I think I am going to make Shepherds Pie. If I don't feel like doing all the prep, we will probably just end up with burgers or a meatloaf!

I'm going out for Mexican with some friends. DH is cooking for himself and the kids. He's making some kind of chicken and broccoli casserole in a cast iron pot. He wanted to try it when he was camping this weekend, but due to a series of mishaps, it fell into the campfire. So he's making it on the stove tonight and hopefully can avoid any meal-ruining accidents.

I was supposed to have dinner with friends to wrap up a charity event we did but that isn't panning out. I'm going to do something with the sirloin I picked up yesterday, roast red potatoes and stirfry some fresh green beans. I made a super easy banana pudding poke cake to take to out get together so we'll have part of that for dessert.

I have handbells tonight and I was craving some comfort. Not feeling well the past few days. So I ran home at lunch and threw some rice, soup mixture and chicken breasts in the crockpot. The good ole chicken and rice casserole from way back when but in a crockpot. I will either steam some greenbeans or carrots on the side.

I am not akathy but this is my go to alfredo that my DD loves. 1/4 cup butter 1 cup of heavy cream 1 clove of garlic 1.5 cups freshly grated parm cheese. I use the package that says 1.5 - 2 cups 1/4 cup chopped parsley (I just used dried and throw in what looks good) Melt the butter over low heat. Add the cream and simmer about 5 minutes. I use a rasp grater for the garlic and grate that into the cream. Add the cheese and stir till most is melted. I add the parsley at this time and lots of black pepper. I simmer that about 5 minute more. All the time this is going, I have started my water to boil for my noodles. After that has cooked til almost done, add the shrimp and cook til pink. Drain that. Put back into the large pot and add the alfredo sauce. It is soooooo good. Heats up nicely the next day.

I'm making New Mexican rice and refried beans with cheese melted on top of everything. My sister loves it and she's coming over to watch the Big Bang Theory season premiere.

We just got back from a ten day road trip. My parents always stop by every few days to check on things, fill the bird feeders and bring in the mail. My Mom always leaves something for us to heat up when we get home. This time its Vegetable Soup. Made with beef, of course! Because "you have to have the beef for flavoring or it would just be cooked vegetables." ETA: I just went to the farm stand down the street and picked up a bag of Pippins (apples) so I'm planning on making apple squares for dessert.

I boiled fusilli early this morning and made a pasta salad with leftover Italian sausage, grilled tomatoes & zucchini and a few other vegetables. The plan is to make it last 2 days to get us through soccer practice tomorrow night. scrapmaven are your no-bake bars a Pioneer Woman recipe too? It's too hot to bake here, but I'd love to make a treat and anything that tastes like a Snickers bar would be well received.

We were going to go to the Great Frederick Fair today and pig out on Fair food like we usually do, but it was chilly, cloudy, and rainy so we went and got our flu shots instead. Not the best trade-off, but at least the shots are out of the way for the season. So, we're having leftover goulash from last night, home-made applesauce, and some bread and butter.

We are having chicken fajitas. I have a recipe I like from Everyday Food magazine, you cook the chicken and the veggies on a couple sheet pans under the broiler. They taste more like the restaurant ones to us this way, rather than the saucy kind of fajitas.

My granddaughter and I went to the Mexican that she works at. We both love the food there and the chips and salsa. She gets 30% off, so that works too! I had a watermelon margarita with salt on the rim and extra limes, I can't stop thinking about how good it was. LOL!
BTW: in case anyone thinks I'm a lush and drank my dinner, I also had a wet burrito!
