but I am getting so tired of seeing the duck lip pics-from 2 yr olds up to 35+. Someone needs to create another dumb selfie look. LOL

So with you on that one. Someone I love posted a duck lip selfie yesterday and I wondered if she has lost her damn mind.

Preach it! I was talking to DD16 about this last night. She does this ALL THE TIME and I think it looks SO dumb. We went to ATL last weekend to the Ed Sheeran concert for her birthday and we were taking selfies together the whole night. She made me do the duck lips with her one time... I looked like i was in pain or something. I'm with you - it's time for a new dumb look!

In our neck of the woods, the girls are slowly fading out the duck lips but there are still way too many. What drives me is my son's selfie "look". Eyebrows raised, forehead wrinkled, pained look on his face. He is such an attractive boy but that look! Yikes I hate it!

For the record, I think most selfies are dumb, duck lips or not.

For the record, I think most selfies are dumb, duck lips or not. I actually don't. I like having pics of me and my DH, or friends that I wold not have if I didn't take them. I don't like bugging people to take my pics, and don't want them running away with my camera or phone.

Yes!! I'm just so thrilled dd's older cousins recently taught her duck lips. And "deuces." Sigh

I agree! My kids do it occasionally, but now it's to make fun of how crazy it looks. I don't like the way (mostly girls, I haven't seen many boys do this) lift their eyebrows to smile for pictures. These girls look like they have more forehead wrinkles than my 92 yr. old grandma, and the girls are only teens!
I don't notice people over the age of 20 doing the duck face though! I don't know who ever thought that was attractive!

I was thinking of the teens / 20's who are filling instagram feeds with daily shots. I saw on the Today Show this morning that one is more likely to die taking a selfie than by a shark attack!

I've never duck-lipped a selfie. I would feel stupid doing it.

Well I guess I am getting even older because I don't know what you mean. Then again, I'm not on Facebook so that probably explains my ignorance. (Is it too late to say, "This thread is useless without pictures?") Edited: Okay, as we say here at NSBR, "Google is your friend," so just in case anyone else is clueless like me, I have done the research for you: Know your meme: Duckface
Edited again: Wow, that really is stupid

Duck face has been replaced here by sticking tongue out. Not just a little tongue sticking straight out, but thrusting as much of their tongue out and usually pointing it toward the person they are next to. Gross.
I never thought I'd say it, but please bring back the duck face!! Ha!

I just don't care for individual selfies. I have a few Facebook friends that post daily selfies. It just seems narcissistic to me. I just scroll by them.

Edited again: Wow, that really is stupid Thanks. I don't do Facebook either so was never really sure what the look was. Wish now that I could unsee what I saw. Why would anyone ever do more than one photo like that - why would they do the one? No maybe about it I am old.

this is kind of amusing: The 15 different types of selfiesthe link should take you to the article; scroll up to start at the beginning. (and isn't the tongue-sticking-out-sideways thing from Miley Cyrus?)

I have a FB friend that posts a pic with duck lips every day. I wish I had the courage to tell her how much prettier she is when she just smiles.

I don't like the duck face or sticking the tongue out selfies. In my own opinion I think they are both ridiculous.

I have a family member who posts a lot of selfies with her tongue flopped straight out of her mouth. Mouth hanging open, tongue flapping, bored expression. What? Who said that was attractive? They steered you wrong, honey.

I have seen so many selfies of some people with the duck lips, I'm no longer certain I would recognize them on the street with their natural expressions.

I agree. I'm also tired of women posting photos of themselves posed with their hand(s) on their hips - it just looks so ...posed. Who stands like that in real life?
