My GPS is on it's last legs, so I'm looking for the best new one I can find that's not going to break the bank (I'm retired, so the bank is limited). I liked my Garmin, but I'm open to other brands. I need it to speak street names, have lane assist, lifetime map updates and have a good size screen. I would love one that would let me set a route - list several cities or addresses to be included in the route. Anyone have one they love? I know I can use an app on my phone, but I like having a GPS, and DH sometimes uses it and he does not have a smart phone.

We're on on 2nd Garmin. IMO, the newer ones (we purchased 2nd one last fall) are much better than original ones.

I had a TomTom and replaced it with a Garmin, which I love.

It won't help you, but we have 2 vehicles with a GPS in the dashboard and LOVE the feature. The screen is large and she helps us so much on our cross country trips.
Everyone I know who has a Garmin loves it.

I would skip all that and download Waze. It is the MOST incredible app ever. It will get you where you need to go, consider all traffic (and police!) and it is fabulous.

That won't work for DH - no smart phone for him. Plus we take long road trips (just got back from a 9500 mile trip), so I don't want to use all my data for that. I like a GPS separate from my phone. I use Waze and Inrix when we hit traffic to help find a way around it.

Any specific model numbers you like? Or didn't like?? I just went out and looked and our newest one is a Garmin nuvi 50LM. We have it set to fastest route and qwerty keyboard. It also seems to find our current location faster and have a better signal than our old one. I also like that she gives the speed limit and the speed you are traveling (so I can check up on DH!, but then he did the same for me. hahaha). ETA: another thing that was a huge plus, when we were traveling on multi-lane interstate the lane box in the upper left corner came on with arrows for each lane and highlighted which lane(s) you needed to be in to exit or to continue on that road. Example: it showed five arrows the left three were highlighted, the two on the right were greyed out. Indicating I needed to be in either of the left three lanes.
