Hey Survivors! I'm so excited about the premier of Survivor Cambodia tonight Hopefully a bunch of you are part of my Pea Pool ... it makes watching even more fun It will be interesting to see how these returning players now perform ... will they play a different game this time around or stick with their previous ways? I'm hoping that Joe gets himself in an alliance this time ... even though I don't have him in the Pea Pool I do have an inappropriate crush on him This is a spoiler thread so feel free to talk about things as they happen

We've had this on the calendar for months! For dinner tonight we're having beans and rice, along with bananas and coconuts. I'm going to surprise the kids when the show starts and let them bid on chocolate and peanut butter, carnitas, and pineapple. My youngest just asked if we were boiling dirty water to drink. Hmmm?

We have DirecTV so I can't watch this on TV tonight. Does anyone know if I can watch it online somehow?

I'll be late to the party. DD has a make-up dance class tonight for missing last week due to being sick. It ends at 8:30 and is about 30 min away so I'll have to leave at 8 to pick her up, then by the time we get home it'll be 9 or later (she almost never gets out exactly on time).
I'm just hoping our pool picks don't go out on the first day. lol

When it's stormy we use that instead since our satellite can get wonky with heavy rains. try this for a live stream. It was posted in a survivor fb group I'm in. www.wmr-sports.net/

Things I loved: The idol at the challenge, great way to change up the ol' predictable idol hunt. Having returning players. When I already know people it makes the first episodes so much better. Otherwise we spend the first few weeks going, "Who is this one again?" Being in Cambodia. Love how they are styling the season.
Things I hated: Abi The presence of chickens.
Best new twist: Tribal following immediately after the challenge. No tiresome afternoon of scrambling. I wonder if they will do that all season?
Best moment of episode: When Joe was so hot he started fire using just his crotch.
And I forgot, I also love that Jeff refers to Kelly as "Wigglesworth". One of our cats is very wiggly, and we use Wigglesworth as his last name.

Thank Goodness they voted out Vytas! If I would've had to look at those sickeningly tight underwear for one second longer I would've literally puked! It wouldn't even have been a little in my mouth, it would've been a full on pukefest all over the floor!! Next up needs to be Abi-Marie... she's still a drama queen!! ETA: Wonder what Vytas is going to say when he finds out he wasn't voted out because he was a threat and it was because he was a PUKE?!

Is Abi the new Philip Sheppard? Are they going to keep her through the whole game because anyone can win against her? I hate that kind of game play.
I remember other people thinking Vytas was skeevy last time, but I never got that vibe from him. I was definitely getting it tonight, though.
Love the twists so far!

I hated him the first time around and he must be a real joy around camp if after the first immunity loss they vote out a strong male and keep AM.

I was convinced my player was going to be first out - Abi Maria! So close too! That would have been 2 seasons in a row for me, which my son was finding hilarious LOL
Looks like I've been saved for (probably) one more week

I am loving this season so far. It's really interesting to see contestants who were on many years ago coming back and how they've changed. The changes in Kimmi and Jeff, who were so fit looking on their original challenge, was probably most surprising. Kelly Wigglesworth must have a mirror up in her attic because that girl looked fantastic. Does anyone think she had work done on her face? I'm just not sure. Honestly, I'm not trying to be superficial, it really is interesting to see how they've all aged. I am actually loving this season because it is filled with normal looking people. Yes, we still have lots of fit younger people (Joe, who has been pointed out multiple times but lots of people who don't look like models. It's actually really refreshing! I love who I got in the pool--blonde Kelly. She was smart to look for the idol but to do it very carefully and make sure she was doing chores at the same time (I love you Stephen, you've always been one of my favorites, but you are further alienating yourself from your tribe with your idol searching and lack of bonding). It was so much fun to watch Kelly continually sneak peeks at where the idol was hidden. I loved that she finally got it (I was afraid it was tied up there or something, but it just easily came off), but did Spencer see her? I'm just not sure. I'm not sad to see Vytas go. I was never a fan and this season he took the unpleasant parts of his personality and amped them up. I don't believe that his "smarminess" as Shirin pointed out, is what got him voted out. I think his personality didn't help, but I think they see him as a threat--someone who has a solid relationship with Terry (the challenge beast) as well as relationships on the other side. I think the combination of those things sent him packing. Abi is no threat--no one likes her, no one is going to want to truly align with her, so they can get rid of her whenever they want. I don't think they'll keep her around like they did Phillip, at least I hope not. I really disliked her in her original season and as much as she's spouting off about growth, I'm not seeing any of it. That whole thing about her bracelet was just ridiculous. Everyone is working and socializing and she's telling everyone who will listen about that damn bracelet--Peih-Gee doesn't want the ugly thing Abi fgs! The bad part about Abi staying is 1) having to listen to her and 2) seeing that some people, especially Kelly W whom I love, might be on the outs. Of course this is the first elimination and it was done without discussion first, so maybe she's okay. I love that they used Quest for Fire, the very first Survivor challenge, as their first challenge. That was awesome. Poor Keith letting the torch go out and getting picked on so much by Jeff. That can't be fun. I'm still not sure why Keith is back though honestly; I think others were more deserving. And I have to agree with Monica. As adorable as Joe is, Jeremy is the one for me. Not only is he gorgeous, the way he feels and talks about his wife, that makes him even more attractive. Honestly, from what I remember of their season, I didn't even find her very likable. I guess Jeremy knows her a little better though. Lots of people I like this season. I'm very excited to see how everything plays out. This continues to be one of my favorite shows. I think I will go into mourning when it gets cancelled. Okay, off to read Dalton's recap and Jeff's Q&A. I'll come back and post the links.

I am so excited to be back into a Survivor season. Here are my thoughts after sleeping on it:
Vytas - I thought he was smarmy on his first season, so I'm not surprised the girls on his tribe saw him that way this time. I do think this vote is a signal that they won't be playing nice with eliminations this season - if they get a bunch of big characters out early, it could signal a boring second half of the game, but I hope not!
Joe - Way to make fire! I mean...way to make crotch fire? He is still a cutie. More creepy that us old ladies drooling when he is on screen was Andrew Savage talking about his 15 and 17 year olds drooling after Joe. Can you imagine how horrified they were tonight?
Spencer - MUCH better start to the game than last time. Loved that he said he would be talking to more people in the first three games of this season than in his entire last season.
Jeremy - I want to like Jeremy, but he still isn't my favorite. He is being smart in aligning with the other strong men to provide cover.
Terry - I don't think Vytas did him any favors by pointing out how well he did physically against Aras his first time out, but it is hard to look at him so many years later and still see a powerhouse.
Ciera - Ciera was one of DD's favorites last season. She started playing way too late last time, but she may over correct and play too hard too soon this time.
Stephen - Oh, Stephen, my pool player. I think he went into the season with one of the largest targets on his back, and he seemed to be isolating himself a bit last night. I want him to do well. I loved him with JT, and I thought he was the brains behind that operation. He needs to find his person again. He didn't win the tribe lottery - I think he would be better off in the other tribe. I am fascinated that Survivor is letting him blog for People during the season.
Tasha - She has been labeled one of the strongest girls and pulled into Jeremy's strong people alliance...which might not be good if the trend this season is to vote out the strongest players.
Abi - We know she is a hot-head, and she did a good job controlling herself tonight. She didn't handle the missing bag very well - she reminded me of my mom when something is misplaced. My mom can't think of anything else until the item reappears. It is suspicious that she had another bag issue so early in the game. I don't think she is out of the woods yet, but she ended up on the right side of the numbers, and the tribe may continue to have bigger fish to fry.
Woo - Woo is still Woo.
Kimmi - She was the one who noticed Stephen out idol hunting - that was a good observation.
Peih-Gee - Something about her rubs me the wrong way. She got a good bit of airtime, but I still didn't like her.
Kass - I had Kass down as first boot. She was unpredictable enough her first season that I would have trouble trusting her. She seems to be playing a better social game so far.
Keith - Please stop spitting.
Shirin - Big change from last season. In contrast to Stephen, I think Shirin ended up in a good spot.
Monica - We didn't see much from her, which probably speaks well to her long term prospects.
Savage - Don't talk about your teen daughter's TV crushes!
Jeff - He got lots of airtime. I enjoyed the old school vs. new school. He talked a lot about his pre-game alliances in pre-game interviews, so I was curious about where he would end up. I thought it was interesting that he felt so out of sorts in the beginning. I believe he prepared harder than almost anyone else.
Kelley Wentworth - In my other pool, I picked Kelley to win, and I think I made the right choice. She had a great edit tonight. Loved that she disguised her idol hunt and that she took her opportunity to grab the idol during the challenge. She was in the game such a short time her first time that, even though she was voted out because she was a perceived threat, I don't believe this group of players will see her that way.
Kelly Wigglesworth - Interesting that Jeff called her by her last name. He does that with players he likes (or maybe just when there are two Kelly's around) and almost always males. I thought she had a good start. She isn't going to be seen as a threat, but she bring a great old-school element that I am glad to see play again. That said, I don't get the impression that she has really kept up with the game and that might hurt her.

So much to like...and a few people to hate. WTF was up with Abi and that stupid bracelet? She seemed to seriously think Peih-Gee took it, and for what reason? firstly it was cheap and nasty and secondly why would she want it? it's not like she could wear it around camp without anyone noticing. I am always amazed at how some people can have so little insight into their own personalities...namely Abi, Ciera and Kas.
They were stupid to vote Vytas out first, I agree that he's manipulative, but they all know that now and he's not that much of a physical threat. Early on they need to stay strong and win challenges, Abi is a disruptive force and from what I remember sucked at challenges too. They should have got rid of Abi first. She's learnt nothing, she talks the talk, but her actual behaviour was the same.
It was fun seeing Jeff V again, I totally missed that he was gay on his season - I guess he's more comfortable with it being on TV now (and good for him!) I also read that his mother has cancer and I think he's playing to try to pay her medical bills, which is great of him to do but sad that he needs to. He's my current favourite, although I suspect in real life he's drive me a bit batty.
I think the 'troublemakers' will go early this season - the people that flipped and lied, and this season it will be a "nice guy/girl" winner.

Okay, read the recap (Dalton does a hilarious bit on Abi's bracelet and, because he was actually present for the first challenge and TC, gives us some extra scoop). Here's the link for Dalton's recap. There isn't a separate link for Jeff's Q&A because Dalton does a video Q&A with Jeff (since he was there at the 1st episode). The video for that is at the bottom of the recap. If someone knows of another Q&A with Jeff, let me know! Your link brings us back to this thread jackie I'll be back with my thoughts after I read Dalton.
