Another vote for middle school. I was that girl that moved right before high school started. It took me a good year to get my feet under me and make friends. All of the kids that were in high school had been together for many years.

Thank you all for the helpful advice. We are pretty sure we are going to send her to the new middle school. She's excited about going, but sad that she will miss her old friends.
The drive isn't a factor, I don't mind driving her at all and at this point, I am able to do so... if I were to go back to work, that might pose a problem. But for now, I think we will be fine. She could ride with DH as he works at the high school which is next door, but he has to be at work almost 2 hours before school actually starts. And I think she'd be losing too much sleep by going with him (plus what would she do for that time?!). So the best solution is for me to drive her.
I was just curious as to what to expect and what others have gone through. I really do appreciate all the good advice!
